Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Yeah, It's normal for hood, hood mirrors and flags to move with the cabin because they are built as a single object. Indeed, there will be a lot of work involved by SCS in order to bring all older trucks to the current standard.
But, since hood and cabin acts like a single object, I assume that bumps, shakes will be absorbed a little bit more. To me, it feels close to VNL but I can say there is a 80% difference spotted by me. That's why I was curious about.
Also, Carl, would you mind share the modded chassis model with me?
I did a test with 4air , don't try this at HOME!!!

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
the chassis are part of my personal mods of the LT/Anthem, the Anthem atm ia also a cluster fork of a mod i have to put serious work in now to make it complete again, well maybe i will update my Anthem Daycab GPS mod on SW but this also will involve much work i dont want to invest when i know SCS will eventually do it

Yea... doesn't worth the time invested in this. Now, lets hope that won't take years for SCS in order to do it
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
I'm not sure about a slider for the ratios but definitely more options. The best way is to add a differential category separate from transmissions. Inside that, have selectable options for better fine tuning for all trucks. Its been requested before and the last good thread about it that died is here back in 2020 viewtopic.php?p=1435681&hilit=transmission#p1435681.eshvos wrote: ↑27 May 2023 08:48If they would replace differential_ratio in the transmission def file with an array, they could display a slider in the in-game transmission menu where the player can choose between all available differential ratios.pigbrother wrote: ↑27 May 2023 08:13I still hope for a Transmission menu with separate differential ratios
This would also increase realism quite a bit, as you'd be able (without modding it in) to configure a day cab logging or farm truck with a low ratio (e. g. 4.11) and a long-haul truck with a high ratio (e. g. 2.85). Even though both trucks could share a transmission def file, they'd behave completely different when driving.
Imho, the thread could make a come back (to not derail this thread). The vehicle team capacity is up and this is one of the major tuning parts that truckers deal with based on what they haul. For us in ATS, we are all O/O unless we are using quick jobs. Rears should be part of the base truck vs tuning packs. We might not get tuning for all trucks and some trucks would be without the option.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Late to the party here, but I traded my Western Star 57x for the Volvo VNL 860 (kept the default powertrain, chassis, and fuel capacity specs).
While I prefer the fit and finish of the 57X's interior, the VNL 860 is now my preferred ride for linehaul trucking, especially due to its balance of power and fuel economy.
After racking up 5,164 miles on the VNL 860, my MPG averages range from 6.2 to 7.4, grossing between 64,000 and 79,000 pounds, with better acceleration and down-speeding than the 57X.
Plus, the VNL 860, with 275 gallons, weighs over a 1,000 pounds less than the 57X, with 200 gallons.
The sound mix and cabin suspension are major pluses as well.

Sorry for the late reply, but I got the 2.85 ratio in Galimm's mod and it works perfectly. Thanks!NoDe31 wrote: ↑27 May 2023 07:40 No... SCS, for some reason, decided to go with 3.25 default differential ratio on OD iShift. Change it in gearbox def file to 2.85 or for TC is even better to 2.64 , or use galimims drivetrain mod for volvo and pick it in configuration menu... Those are dif ratios that you will usually see on highway trucks with smaller engines and shorter wheel base...

In reality, such selector is installed with an Eaton transmission or only with I-Shift, judging by the inscription?

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
new VNL looks nice. I like engine sound. I wonder if driving real VNL feels that smooth. It's driving feels aesthetic.
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Afaik Volvos are very comfortable irl.
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Thanks for the tip. I always cruise at 62 MPH and it was revving around 1350 rpm with 3.25. Not too bad but still a bit high. I changed it to 2.85 and rpm is back to 1200 at 62 MPH which is perfect for X15. I also noticed engine brake got stronger after the change. Thanks a bunch!NoDe31 wrote: ↑27 May 2023 07:40 No...
