I would hope they make new models instead of fiddling with the exist one, which is rather dated.

I believe it will be a completely new truck. The Old One will still exist. Like the Scania in ETS2.

it will be a new truck, the updated part was meant for the real VNL and not for the ingame one

It will be a brand new model. For we still have nothing of him to see. The blog itself confirms this.

It will be, except for the cab shape and the chassis, everything else is different. Making it a facelift means adding Old Cascadia as facelift to the current one.

Anyway, good to know that VNL will receive its latest version. ATS badly needed this model, alias Volvo returning.

By the way, is Volvo Construction separate from Volvo Trucks NA?

You can expect this at 2024 or 2025 at the minimum.
I completely agree with you.
Thought it is already completed and waits for engine sound, eventually...But no...
I've been waiting for this truck for years.
TRUCKER IN REAL LIFE THANKS TO SCS Soft (true story)

And how do you know that? I'm sure they said that on the blog so people don't get too excited and think it's coming next week or next month, SCS knows better, i refuse to believe they don't have a model of that truck in a very advanced state, SCS is just trying to keep the crowd under control. 😂
