I added a yes, I'd like to be able to get out to refuel, hook up the cables, do a walk around inspection of the truck and trailer. Don't much care about the other stuff.

Thank you! All we really need is a developer command that locks the height of the dev camera and maybe a small foot step sound that plays as you move around. Type g_walk 1 into the dev console, and then when you press 0 it puts you at normal eye level and you can "walk around".

Additional functionality could be added by expanding the window animations to also open the doors. Maybe the window up command could also open the door "above" the window open command and vice versa.

As for stuff we could do outside of the cab, if SCS opens up the capability, modders will have a field day. I wouldn't be surprised to see people modding buildings with interiors to walk around and look at cargo.

I've also thought about a separate game mode like the store which allows additional vehicle functionality such as small cranes and forklifts to load trucks manually or physically being able to drive a machine onto the deck.

Change the poll to indefinite. It allows people to continuously vote vs a poll that times out. More people will get a chance to chime in. I think the feature should come as many want it. I just won't use it. I could try it a time or two but my focus is driving only. I don't even bother parking much anymore. I'm lucky if I can deliver 2-3 loads a weekend. I just don't have time with my busy schedule right now. I'd love to someday sit down and seriously enjoy ATS. But I think ATS is a solid 5 years away from things I'd like to see in the game. More maps, trucks, ICC's and certain features. I'd like see the potential raised a bit more before I start playing a lot more hrs. I think ATS everyday but its only on here, not playing the game.

I think it is, and yeah, it should be an option. Stuff like this is a reason for people like me to play longer. Driving alone starts to get old.

Ahh. I guess the option to change your mind is not available then. For me there is no option to switch. I think SCS can reach several different types of players for sure.

There are people that play for:
1) tourism/exploration - driving
2) the economy - ICC system
3) management economy - run a business
4) real life task of a trucker - features to imitate a real trucker
5) all of the above

Me, I'm mostly 2 with a pinch of 3. But it seems that we all fit into one or more categories.

Yeah, for me, it's mainly 4. Which is why I want to see a lot more in regards to interacting with the environment and the load. 3 would be secondary, especially if they added a way to build a company from scratch (buy land, purchase building, buy trucks and trailers and visibly store them, hire actual drives aka mp players, etc). 2 is definitely important, but I'm more focused on the cargo. 1 is a meh from me. I enjoy the scenery, but I'd rather have a challenging drive (heavy traffic, bad weather) than a beautiful drive.

Walk around sure, but I think restaurants might be a bit too much. Just take the photo mode as a baseline and expand upon it. Maybe the ability to disconnect the trailer hoses and stuff, and maybe even manipulate loads (like draining the tanker at a gas station), that way you simulate more aspects of being a trucker.

I wouldn't expect SCS to create restaurants with interiors (even thought I would love if they did make a standard one and drop it into every fitting building). That being said, if walk mode was an option, someone would almost certainly create one as a mod, and if the option to load one's own trailer became available, people would likely create forklifts and cranes and warehouses with interiors.

The more SCS adds, the more the community will add, at least that's how I see it.

Another idea, what about the concept of loading your trailer yourself at the warehouses by getting out of the truck, opening up the back door on the trailer (which each have different animations depending on if your trailer has regular hinged doors, a single roll-up door, or a roll-up door with a lift-gate) backing up to a loading dock with the back door on the trailer open, and loading the cargo yourself with a pallet jack (with some sort of flashing arrow pointing at the pallet that needs to be picked up so you pick up the correct pallet), walking back to the trailer, pushing the pallet into the trailer and securing it down, then putting away and securing your pallet jack so it can’t move while in transit and closing up the trailer door before leaving the facility after a walk around inspection is done, and if you don’t want to back up to a loading dock, parking curbside, opening your back door and either lowering your lift-gate, getting inside the trailer with the liftgate, then waiting for a forklift to show up with a pallet which is then placed on the liftgate and then you can grab it with your pallet jack and place it inside the trailer, using the liftgate to lower yourself back down to ground level, then after securing your cargo and pallet jack, closing and locking the back door then folding the liftgate into its folded transport position, or if your trailer doesn’t have one, opening the door, climbing inside the trailer by using the rear bumper as a sort of ladder, waiting for a forklift to show up and place the pallet in the doorway, then grabbing the pallet with the pallet jack and placing it inside the trailer before securing the cargo and your pallet jack so they again can’t move while in transit, climbing back down to ground level and closing and locking up the back door? For flatbeds and drop decks all you have to do is just park and wait for a forklift to show up, load the cargo, then tie it down, and for curtain-side trailers all you have to do is open up one of the curtains then just use the same process you would use for a regular flatbed or drop deck before securing the cargo and closing the curtain back up.

I would love to be able to manually load and deliver cargo (especially in a food service roleplay). But I think that's a long shot at this point.

And what's worse than that is that even mods of this concept are impossible due to the vice grip SCS has on gameplay. Two functional vehicles are not possible at once under player control, so something like a forklift would have to be the only vehicle spawned.
