Shoot, there are some mods on Farm Sim that are so intricate you actually have to get out and connect each individual hydraulic line and the pto and electrical lines before it will operate.
There's a reason FS19 has about as many players as ATS, despite being an unsupported game, and why both games have a tremendous number of million-plus view videos compared to a paltry number for SCS games.

The limitations SCS has placed on the game and on modding have reduced the potential playerbase greatly. There are so many things that could be done within the ATS map, but none of them are possible due to these limitations.

As you stated, no one is walking across an FS map or complaining about how textures look. People are just playing the game and enjoying it as they best see fit, not how the devs best see fit.

I spent about an hour on Saturday organizing my fleet of equipment in a shed at my virtual farm. Had a small group of people watching me do it as I streamed Might not have been the most "farming related" content, but it was fun.

Just look at GTA mods and imagine what people would do with a map that's now 11 states. They've added interiors to the hotels and shops, figured out ways to have things on your person, added the ability to eat, and whatnot.

Only can imagine doing anything more than driving in ATS.

Walk/interaction mode could be limited to just truck stops, drop off/pickup locations and within X feet of the truck that would load into a higher poly/texture when walkmode was selected. That way people are not running to places they "shouldn't". Place some interaction buttons (kinda like tsw2) to hook up air lines or pump gas etc, utilizing cutscreen animations where needed. Same with loading unloading.....i just dont see full control of everything ever being a option in this game. This could be the compromise Idk?
Tbh, that is the problem with SCS games: control. Even Rockstar doesn't have as much control over their games as SCS does, and Rockstar sued to try to stop people from
modding.

It's not even what they enable in the game. I don't particularly want to see SCS develop walking features. I'd like those features to be possible, and for some modder to push them as far as desired.

Yes! You're spot on, could you imagine if they were able to allow modders to go to the extent of say 5m? Youd have trucking companies with actual headquarters, youd have log books in game, you'd probably have sim "mechanics" that would take care of the trucks. The immersion would be sky is the limit, like in GTA.

Yep, exactly! There would be functional yard tractors, forklifts, and cranes. There would probably be VTCs where drivers would go to a yard and pickup a specific trailer out of dozens of similar, functional ones. There would probably be functional warehouses where people were storing cargo.

And I could talk for days about the different sectors of trucking we would be seeing by now: car haulers with animated ramps and contracts, grain and farm equipment haulers, wind turbine guys, etc. I personally could spend hours hauling oilfield equipment if someone could mod a bed truck/oilfield float in the game with a functional winch. I already talked in one thread about how many loads are in just one of those prefabs (like 40). That would be days of enjoyment, but we really will never know.

But I think one look at FS and FiveM shows that modders will do crazy things with a game when allowed. You can simulate trucking better (minus distances) in either game, and with more MP friends. FS has a max of 16 default. FiveM is hundreds.

SCS' limitations are only hurting its potential.

And it's not just trucking that is being affected (although that is the point of the game). There is potential within this map for trains, motorcycles airplanes, ships, ferries, and more. There's potential for police rp as well.

If people (I have played on these servers myself) have turned GTA into a police sim, imagine what they could do with a game with soon to be 12 states and mods that add two additional border nations.

Again, not saying that these things should be supported by SCS. They shouldn't be. But they should be allowed to be possible. Just like we should be allowed to use f7 commands on loaded trailers. Or bind keys to our own animations (aka mouse control for opening doors and windows like FS).

While I wouldn't consider myself to be a fan of AP101, perhaps his connection with SCS will help put some features on their list of priorities.

He just released a new video about the most requested features for these games, and the very first thing mentioned was a walk mode.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyiR4iIlXj0

I also found this particular comment funny: as I have said before myself, this is an incredibly popular and seemingly easy to implement feature that could improve gameplay. For those who don't want to use it, they wouldn't be forced to, but that doesn't mean that no one should have the chance to. Since there appears to already be a walk mode in the map editor, discovered by koolizz, all we need is for SCS to bring it over to the main game.

Yes, it would be nice to get off the truck and tour around. Getting in your friend's car and traveling with him in Convoy multiplayer mode would be a great experience. Please do not ignore this request. We do not want to continue as a truck in the universe of Euro truck simulator 2 and American truck simulator, we want to see more in-game interaction and content. Future updates should not be limited to just the map and some gameplay settings. Thank you in advance for your work. Dear Scs Software and valuable teammates.

Agreed! Convoy is a major missed opportunity for player-to-player interaction. Passenger mode is just part of it.

As for walking, here's an approximate perspective of walking using the dev cam. There is more than enough detail for a player to walk around and see this. And it would be far better than a tool designed for map debugging.

I just happened to click on your Walk Mode link Serious. I agree with all of this. Fits in with what I'd like to see.

Another addition would be trucks in and out of where you pick up and deliver loads. It amazes me that no other truck or trucks are moving around at the same time you pick up a load or deliver it. Tho I have seen that happen, but very very rarely in the last 2 updates. Like in only 1 of 500 hundred times.

Another thing that amazes me if no one from SCS ever shows up to comment on what we ask for.,.. neither yes or no, or even why it couldn't happen. Only the moderators are here on the forums. It's like SCS doesn't want our input. Tho I can say a few problems I've seen in ATS and posted here have been fixed. So, they must take a peek once in a great while. ;)

I've hauled ass down the road to deliver new cars and trucks, fuel, freight, and produce. Now I'm addicted to ATS doing the same thing in a simulation.

Thanks! It is quite strange how quiet they are for sure. I once saw two yellow names trying to explain what best community ever means, but rarely do we see them interacting with the fans to give hope for future improvements. It's kinda sad.

A couple more examples for this concept: we don't need to remake the game to make this happen. It's quite possibly one of the simplest things that could be added to the game.

Well to be honest I don't think they'll do much. I've played ATS for over 5 years, and to tell the truth it's getting to be a bit boring. They can update all they want, and nothing really changes for the better. And that's sad. Your examples would be great and easy as you say. But do you think it will ever happen?

Don't take it wrong, they have made improvements to a certain extent. But only to clean stuff up. Maps have been their biggest improvements only. And that's sad too.
