Which area in ETS2 should be reworked next ?
Re: Which area in ETS2 should be reworked next ?
@oldmanclippy
I think Going East should be at least partially reworked exactly because many people buy it as a first DLC since it is the cheapest one. I can imagine a situation that someone buys the game, wants to try some DLC and buys Going East. Probably its quality might detract some people from buying more DLCs.

SCS must add new cities in some places, I can't imagine them doing Benelux rework and NOT include Antwerp
About UK rescaling - yes, UK with different scale is weird but I have some doubts if this country can be properly represented with 1:19 scale. TBH it's a shame that SCS didn't settle on UKTS 1:15 scale instead of GTS 1:19 scale when making ETS2, because with current map quality the scale limitations are the main issue (though even 1:15 might not be enough for Europe, ETS3 should have 1:10 scale)

Ah, but there is one.oldmanclippy wrote: ↑24 May 2023 14:10
Hungary would still be my preference to rework ASAP, and it was my preference even before we learned that Slavonia would not get a connection to Hungary.

SCS can remake the Going East DLC and raise the price of it like the latest DLC.
But to drop the price and sell as the initial DLС ( like the old GE DLС) Scandinavia DLС.
This will work great too.

Re: Which area in ETS2 should be reworked next ?
People keep saying UK can wait to be reworked, because it is easily avoided. What if I don't want to avoid it?
I have two ETS2 profiles and one of them is full of RHD trucks that stay in UK.
ETS2 is played globally and I'm sure there are many English speakers who play it and many people who are used to driving on the left; we'd like to see UK raised up to the quality of the rest of the map.

Nothing will change in the SCS calendar after people have expressed their opinion on this forum.
Re: Which area in ETS2 should be reworked next ?
Your point is absolutely valid. But I guess "I want to drive there" and "there's a lot of people used to RHD" may, just may, have a little less priority than "everything is connected", "rough spots in between areas of better quality", "very often unavoidable to get from point A to point B", "MUCH more people are driving there".
Age/quality doesn't matter as it hasn't really changed until Scandinavia.

If SCS had all the manpower needed to redo all old areas at once and do map DLC's, then that would be supergreat.
British Isles update/redo, it will come someday.
Regarding Scandinavia, some cities were nicely done, others, not the same quality.

Scandinavia holds up pretty well I'd say, as long as you throw the rain slider all the way to the right (the easy cure-all for making older parts of the map more palatable), and as long as you don't look too closely at the mountain models in Norway.
Scandinavia was a true leap forward when it came out. I started playing ETS2 when Scandinavia was the most recent DLC released, so when I bought it I was floored by how much higher quality it was compared to the rest of the map. Yes the novelty of the mountain roads and underground roundabouts was certainly part of the charm, but it really was SCS's first attempt at realism instead of just abstract representations of cities and roads. Don't get me wrong I'm very much looking forward to 2030 when it gets reworked but for now it still blows base map and Going East out of the water.

Old base map and GE? yeah, blows those out of the water.

Re: Which area in ETS2 should be reworked next ?
Scandinavia was the turning point for SCS map DLCs and while obviously it isn't up to the current standards it still holds resonably well, unilke old base game map and Going East.
GE was done with the same quality as base game map and is pretty much indistinguishable from the unreworked base game areas so when considering any rework priorities it should be viewed for all purposes as a base game area.
