Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Don't know for sure, but if you can haul a 3 axle box with a 4x2, why would a 6x2 not be ok?

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I have doubt... as standard 4x2 + semi is 16.5m - which is maximum lenght for articulated truck. and 6x2 is longer (and 5th wheel is moved back) thus semitrailer is moved back. It must be longer than 16.5 - probably around 17m... which is above articulated truck lenght limit in most of EU countries...
there are rules for truck and traler (rigids) that can have up to 18m - but this is not applying to 6x2 + semi...
I cannot see 6x2 here in Poland - except container trailers - but they may be shorter? Not sure.

Container trailers are shorter yeah.

As Mohegan13 said, there's no legal problem about this, there's nothing that prevent you to use more axles than the strictly necessary. Point is, you are still having to comply all other limitations: mostly length and weight. There could be a problem with the total combined length of the tractor+trailer as xyzan says. But I think the trailers we have in the game aren't the longest ones allowed in that 16,5m limit (correct me if I'm wrong). The ones that reach the 16,5m I think are those extra long mega-liners or whatever fancy name they are given and we don't have them in game. If right, then there should be no problem of realistic depiction even hauling them with a 3-axled tractor.55sixxx wrote: ↑18 Aug 2022 23:38 Question to those that may know about road regulations in EU... Are 6x2 Taglifts (Either steer or just a pusher) allowed to drive with the regular 3 axle box trailer in main land Europe (Like France, Germany, Austria and so on)??? I'm asking because I like keeping my combos road legal and somewhat accurate to real life and I've seen a picture of a real life DAF XG Taglift with the common box trailer but that one was from Denmark, so I don't know if it would be legal in other places.
Then there's the weight issue. As far as I noticed, the weight of the tractor isn't calculated by the game to factor the weight of the cargo; it uses some "average" value. But IRL the general limitation of 40t (or any other more country/use specific limitation) is about the whole truck combination. So, it's perfectly possible that we could be driving overweighted trucks when choosing 3-axled tractors (and mostly for sure if we choose a 4-axled one for the show)

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
every standard euro trailer is 13.62m long, exactly the same we have ingame, there are no longer standard trailer, only shorter if you have only 2 axle or even 1 but even they can be full length, everything above it is already Euro Combi territory that goes the way of 25.25m combo classification and might need a separate permit to use in some countries, in Germany we can drive a combination that is 17.88m in total length but this is already classified as a "Lang LKW" and needs appropriate signage on it
BUT
we got new regulations, see NG DAF, it has a longer cab, wich forces a longer chassis, wich makes the whole combo longer, so there should be a change because of it

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Thanks guys... I asked because I've been using a XG+ FTN (6x2/4 Steer Tag) with my Dry Liner for a while now and was curious to know if it is road legal... But I looked online for the FTN overall length and couldn't find it.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
i tried to find the new regulation text from the EU (wich is a s**t job especially all this bureaucracy language) but what i got is, wich applies, especially to the New DAF, trucks (manufacturers) are allowed to be 80 to 90cm longer (build) the extra length can not be used as loading capacity
and i see 6xX chassis with standard trailer all the time so they are road legal, a 40ft container isnt that much shorter either with a 6xX, especially when 46ft trailer come into the picture

I'll stick to that combo then... I also have 4x2 XG+ on my profile, can always use that too.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
The new EU regulations are indeed meant for better aerodynamics, habitability on the cabin and safety on crashes (more "nose" to have more deformation zones in the front), thus the extra length on that regulation is not allowed to be used to increase cargo capacity. I knew that but what I was talking is that I recall have seen somewhere info about trailers that allow a few extra pallets and I though it was due some extra length with special permissions. Maybe I understood it wrong or were meant for some specific countries?
