Windows11 is just windows10 with a new UI and slightly less convenience.

I updated my old 5th gen intel laptop to win11 with the dev builds to monitor it and see if I was comfortable updating to it with the main PC, had absolutely no issues or bugs even on a system that was technically not hardware compatible. I switched to Win11 on the main PC when it went public, again not a single issue what so ever.

As far as these games go no issues, I did get a consistent 5fps improvement if anything. I've since done a clean win11 install as I bought a Samsung NVME for the OS, again no issues.

Well, if there's nothing new or wonderful about Windoze 11, other than more well hidden spyware, then upgrading just for the sake of upgrading makes no sense.

Tell that to the AMD users that saw absurd drops in performance in the GA version, and still worse after the update that should had to fix the issue. Stable isn't the same as without problems. And even if no SO or version will ever be without some problems, there's no doubt Win11 is still in early adoption stage.

With all the infinite combinations of hardware and software out there (and without knowing his own), none of us can warrant anything to Graf_Boeinenn about what would be his specific user experience.

If he doesn't need no Win11 feature now, he has no reason to update now, period. If he does need some of those features, then he should update and see what happens (he will have 10 days of grace to revert back).

there is no need to update to Windows 11 until the end of 2025, until then (hopefully) newer hardware can be bought and an update made, still angry that a 6th gen isnt "supported" but a 7th gen is, my CPU can do as much as the next generation can do, this just created more e-wast then to prevent it with good, still working CPUs, not to forget the whole TPM nonsense but at the end the end user is at fault here for still riding outdated OSs and going online with them, the reason why we got forced updates to begin with

You just need to do a clean install from an iso image
I have a 4th generation CPU

I'm a bit curious to know, how did it let you update a system that was not hardware compatible?

then it is most likely because you dont have TPM, or software TPM in bios (fTPM for AMD and PTT for Intel)

Presumably because I did it in dev builds rather than waiting for public in that case. It's still getting updates though on public branch now, I half expected it to stop working when Win11 went public.

There are multiple ways to install it now though even with hardware incompatibilities. One of the easiest ways to to download the win11 installer, replace the compatibility checker for the one in Win10. Win11's requirements are a joke really you can bypass all of them and in most cases it works without issue, I think it's just their way to try and get people on newer hardware than anything else. 🤷‍♂️
