Agreed, I'd definitely prioritize the rework effort over seasons. Especially when some of the effort to put snow on old areas would itself also need to be reworked when the time came, so it'd be even more rework burden. Some newbie driver wrote: ↑06 Aug 2022 13:01 We can forget about seasons for a long long time with a 99,999999% confidence on that guess. The insane amount of mapping work they would require (and that it's going to grow every year) would be way better placed in get rid ASAP of all the old ugly mapped zones of the games, specially ETS2 as having more of those.
And consider that seasons mapping effort should be done in BOTH games approx at the same time; player base would not accept that only one of the games would receive such a change and having to indefinitely wait for it on the other.
So, granted, they are not coming for now, if ever.

AND Grimes does a very good job with seasons if you're OK with static/manual changes.
Me, I like dry sunny weather of the 21st June. No rain ever, long days, perfect.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Did Pavel indicate which countries we can expect next year? And will there be two or more in ATS
Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Not exactly. The only thing confirmed is that Florida isn't the priority anymore.
Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
And if I understood right, he mentioned the Great Lakes region as one.
Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Great Lakes is very interesting landscape wise...
Also I think not having Flordia as a priority is another good decision. The map looks a lot better when progressed vertically rather than horizontally.
After Texas, the states north of it should be the priority.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I hope that when scs gets to North and South Dakota, these states will come in one DLC called Dakota
I agree that it is stupid to want priority to get to Florida
And I'm glad that Pavel understood and changed his decision
If I remember correctly, someone wrote that assets for Oklahoma Kansas and Nebraska appeared in the map editor, maybe we will get all these 3 states in one DLC next year, (of course it would be one DLC per year) if SCS were smart maybe we could to get the Dakotas (next year), but I'm already speculating and dreaming a lot
Time will tell, we just have to wait

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I think back in time their priority of moving towards Florida came from the "pressure" they noticed of lots of people eager to do a coast to coast trip. But time hes demonstrated that people is also interested in the other proposals SCS are offering in not so populated states; so the actual more "squared" progression seems better now. It also worth mention that he talked about Florida priority when they only had 1 mapping team for ATS (If I recall right). So, at the pace they could map back in that moment it had more sense to delay northern states and move more to the west at first.

No longer focusing on reaching the East Coast will give them more time to improve the game engine so we can actually have a dense Eastern US.
That said, I am sad that it will probably take longer now until we get Louisiana, it's the state I'm most looking forward to.
