Seasons are nice, but I really think the cargo system overhaul should be an absolute priority. It's a core gameplay component that is sorely lacking realism and has been since day one. Even much lesser games have better cargo handling than ETS2 and ATS. Death Stranding has a better cargo system for crying aloud.

Ain't DS quite the cargo carrier game?
NTM's B-Double Telescopic Skeletal Container Carrier. Youtube video on how it works. W & S thread.
B-Double trailer and short modes: EN 7.82 swap body, 20’ or 30’ containers.
Standalone 40' mode: EN 7.82 swap body, 20', 30', 40' or 2 x 20' trailer.

It is, and it puts our games to shame.

Yeah. Let’s withdraw people specialized in weather and environment programming and stuff them in the cargo department.

Yeah, let's take the maker of the Glacier Park and ask him/her to code more cargoes... He/she's good.

I meant any lateral sliding. We have understeer, but not lateral sliding. That's why we can't jacknife and we pass from driving OK to tip over without almost no intermediate scenario. And that kind of risks are higher on winter roads, so there's no point to make all the hard work on winter looks without providing the physics improvement.

We are going to see things like big changes in cargo market, as mackintosh mentioned, more complex physics, realistic AI behavior or better overall weather (even if not with "seasoned" effects like snow) way before seeing seasons implemented into the game. Because they will require less effort and will add more interest into the game than what seasons would do. Seasons is the ice on the cake, the project they will do when they could had grown to such high amount of resources that they could brag "now we can do this". If ever.

Seasons are cool but I'd prioritize more important things first, such a cargo system rework.

Want seasons now?? Then play TMP... They offer the compatibility to Grimes season mods as the real world seasons change. The winter mod even has sliding physics which most probably will make the average player jacknife their truck.

Can someone explain a bit roughly what do you mean by "cargo system rework"?

Multidrops for instance? More realism on what's transported according to what transported where?

For me, personally, I expect multi-drops, tons of more cargo (Especially for lowboys, flatbeds and dropdecks), more realism on drop-off points and a massive rework of the WoTR external market.

@JaDaKa A massive cargo overhaul to me means:
1) multi drop
2) splitting trailers. part of no. 1
3) large amount of cargo needs to be made. For ATS it needs to be 2-3 times what's there. ETS2 cargo is in a bit of a better situation but I'm sure it could be doubled too
4) node system - this allows for thousands of cargo combinations with no. 3 in mind. This also also for a massive SCS cargo pool that both games share instead of each game have too many exclusives.
5) rework cargo so that pickups and drops offs makes since. Need more depots for this. Ex. Milk farm to Wallberts. It should be Milk farm, to packaging/processing, then to Wallberts.
