About The Great Steppe / Road to Aral: I thought that The Great Steppe wasn't updated anymore because the original creator didn't want to work on it anymore, which of course is understandable. Now, the last version of TGS was for ETS2 v1.39. But it apparently also worked in v1.40, v1.41, etc. With the ETS2 v1.44 update there was an updated version of TGS on vk.com, a Facebook-like site in Russian language, that is also used for other map mods like SibirMap(?). So I assumed that TGS got some minor update so it works in ETS2 v1.44, and now also in v1.45.
I also know that ProMods has taken over TGS, but it can take quite some time before the ProMods version of TGS will be released. In the meantime we could use the old version of TGS; it is updated only to work in ETS2 v1.44 and v1.45; it doesn't contain new roads, it doesn't contain new cities. It's just updated for compatibility purpose. That's why I don't see it as a so called stolen mod. It would have been a stolen mod if TGS would contain new roads and/or new cities. But that's not the case. So personally I don't have/see a problem with this updated version of TGS.
A slightly different situation is that the TGS that has been updated for ETS2 v1.45 now has Road to Aral integrated. Apparently without the permission of @BlazingCreeperx. Based on what he wrote here...

...I conclude that we can use this integrated version of TGS for the moment, but when @BlazingCreeperx releases his expansion to Road to Aral, we of course have to reconsider what to do with TGS in the map combo. I mean, I'm not looking for trouble with original creators, and I'm certainly not looking for stolen mods; all I want is driving in this awesome area, covered by The Great Steppe and Road to Aral.
I've also been thinking over this one. The ONLY difference in reality, compared to some of the other mods we use, is that this bundles all the fixes. We have had other "non-official" fixes before, but always as a patch, not a complete bundle. EDIT: My mistake, we had Arayas's modifications for SR in the past too, as a replacement DEF.
As you said, this doesn't really count as "stolen". Nobody is passing it off as their own work, or asking for payment, or....
