Poll: Which area should SCS add to ETS2 next?

So this indicates that internally they may already be working on the next map expansion after Heart of Russia! Probably in very early stages.

They MUST (not may) to be working already in the TWO next DLC after HoR. For the immediate after it they need to be working already in creating assets, thinking in companies, 2D art... Probably just preliminary works that will require lots of iterations before the final results. But they have to be working on it already because it's something that must be pretty advanced when they start to map whatever it comes after HoR.

And for the one that will come later, Kraake and their info team need to be already gathering main relevant data that will allow them to decide the general layout.

It has been always this way; the map DLC development cycle if about 3 years. That's why always has been said those polls wil dictate nothing. For the time when the results gather here after every reset of the poll, it has been around 1 year that SCS has already decided what's coming two next years.

This basically confirms the Western Balkans DLC!

No, this basically confirms that they have a map module called "Zadar prototype" in the files. We can only guess what it is for.
I mean, obviously it has something to with Western Balkans. And, hopefully, it is the next DLC. But it could be an early draft for the next next DLC, the one after the one after HoR.

Hopefully we will get a true confirmation on the Christmas Stream. I feel like if the immediate DLC after HoR isn't Western Balkans, there will be riots in the streets of Prague

Nice, I'm expecting some teasing in the Christmas stream. I just hope that Balkan 2 will finally finish the Balkan peninsula including former Yugoslav republics, Albania and Greece. Currently, I'm really happy to see some clues, especially as I know that some parts of Western Balkans are not covered with Google Maps and SCS might need to visit some parts.

I agree that this just means that the likelihood of Western Balkans being *within the next TWO DLCs* after HoR is high. Does not mean that it's the one directly after HoR.

This isn't really news for me, I'd be pretty shocked if both Further East and Northern Scandinavia (or some other DLC) came before Western Balkans. 2024 is the absolute latest they can push this out IMO. 2025 would just be too long waiting for it.

I don't remember if it was Shiva or Sora, this forum's user who first I saw talking about the theory that as Russia is so big and will require several DLCs (and that's just considering highly populated European zones); then what we can expect is 1 Russian DLC followed by one non-Russian and this cycle going on for a long time.

I mostly agree with that theory. Then, if Western Balkans wouldn't be next, we will have to wait another Russian DLC before SCS releasing those Balkans. And yes, objectively this seems a lot too much for such considering the shape of the map.

It could happen too that SCS decides the actual way of doing things is a problem for the shape of the map still to be done. So, I said it some times, there exist the possibility they switch from current big map DLC to a model like ATS of smaller but frequent map DLC. Nothing is written in stone, they can go that way whenever they want. And that way every year we could have a bit of Russia and something more somewhere else.

I believe that if the Balkan DLC is confirmed, we will get the whole Balkans, not only the countries of Yugoslavia, but also Albania Greece and Northern Macedonia, I do not understand why some speculate that the Balkan DLC will include only the states of Yugoslavia

Some newbie driver, might have been me.
But Heart of Russia, it is bigger than I expected. Even when not including Belarus.
There should be possible to have atleast 2 more Russian map DLC's. Not counting the road to Murmansk.
One containing Samara, Kirov Oblasts, and more, for example.
Another containing Volgograd Oblast, Stavropolskij kraj and more.

Murmansk, that could come with either Finland, or as part of northern Fennoscandia DLC. Unless SCS had decided to have it with HoR, that I think is unlikely, but I could be wrong.
