Everything will be okay in the end, and if it`s not okay, it`s not the end.

a dlc balkan project excluding greece is not far-fetched given the size of all these countries combined

@guilhem1 The size of these countries combined is still 100,000 km2 smaller than Iberia, which will probably be surpassed by HoR.

In this case, the deciding point will be the need to document, model and map all the differences of so many countries. If that would be a problem then Greece can be the one out (it always could come with an expansion focused on the Aegean, with more Turkey for example.
But considering all the differences they had to manage with Iberia DLC (even if nominally they were only 2 countries); I think it's doable.
@Shiva as I said it's possible it was you, was a message from a lot of month ago, can't remember well. What I remember is that I liked the idea, seemed very logical and plausible. And even if HoR is as big as it seems, they have a LOT of Russia to cover. Russia alone is almost 40% of the land extension of Europe and Ukraine + Belarus another 8%. So, all that the map we have in the game already doesn't even cover 50% of Europe (not to mention possibilities to go beyond). So, you can count 4 DLC for Russia alone even if (of course) the most northern and inhabited parts stay out. Plus another one for that Ukraine + Belarus thing in the middle of everything.
Regards

As stated, @krmarci the size of the Balkan DLC countries is smaller than the size of the Iberian countries by 100,000 km², which means that arguing that the Balkan DLC will be large in size is stupid, as Iberia is the largest and HoR is likely to surpass it, not to mention the size of DLC added by Belarus. Ukraine and Moldova will be the largest and larger than HoR and Iberia
@tobrago thank you for your warning sorry for the mistake, the principle of my assertion still applies

Time and time again the argument of real-life area in km² comes up... For the quadrillionth time, it's not a good metric of "how big" a map DLC is. Even ignoring the map projection distortion, you need to take the density and variety of content into account.
Theoretically, there could exist a map DLC that is smaller than Iberia in terms of land size, but has a larger amount of cities and more kilometres of roads.
Theoretically, Western Balkans could be such a DLC.
Theoretically, Western Balkans without Greece could still be such a DLC.

It may not be just about the area covered but rather the diversity of content and the assets involved. This would easily surpass BtBS in terms of that richness. With or without Greece, 1.5 years should be a reasonable estimate i.e., Summer 2022 for HoR and Winter 2023 for WB.
In other words, BtBS should be the proper metric to talk about anything WB related (at least IMO)

If Western Balkans, minus Greece, it will be opt to add Greece as a free update once Western Balkans is out. We don't know when Western Balkans will release, since HoR releases within the year (and it depends on the progress on the map developers, testers and researchers).
If I recall, after Scandinavia, there was the next map DLC which wasn't mentioned on the 2015 Christmas Stream, instead, they announced after two months that the next map DLC after Scandinavia is filling the rest of France (without Bayonne, Lacq and Corsica), and released December 5, 2016. Some of them prefer to include Greece on the Western Balkans DLC, cuz Greece has an important role when it comes to the history and the origin of Greek Mythology and its famous landmarks, in which will add viewpoints. Western most parts of the Eastern Balkans DLC have the closest borders to the Western Balkan Countries, such as the Iron Gates (in Orsova), Timisoara, RO, Edirne, TR, to name a few...

Western Balkans will have a similar size to the Baltic Sea region. I believe that the first teasing of Western Balkans will include some sights from Greece and Croatia.

@JolliciousJosh forget that idea about Greece being a free update of a DLC. SCS isn't going to advertise a DLC with a certain content and add later from nowhere a whole extra country. That would be unrespectful from several points of view.
That Balkans future DLC when it arrives will let very clear which countries will it include, with Greece in or out, but crystal clear. That's the only we shouldn't have any doubt about.
And I'm not even considering the fact that you state such a big chunk of content could be free. As far as I know, SCS keeps being a company, not a charitable organization. We should contain our expectations about a company be willing to work for us for free.
