Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
Re: Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
Friends scs software can support both platforms dx11 / dx12 effect files need to separate dx11 / dx12 effect files can develop both pbr is not something that comes with dx12 game engine two platforms can be supported there is not much left modeling terrain model does not change much in the map editor two platforms can be supported in the map editor dx11 delete scs software they get a lot of reaction neither map nor dlcs nobody buys everything is expensive dx12 cards expensive scs software

Just one suggestion raskol; try to find a better translator or a better way to use it the one you use now.

Now this is something I can work with. This is more helpful for me. Thank you for posting this information. But just saying that its non sense without out something for me to follow, I can't compute. I'm only going by what I was looking into which apparently was not the set of info you did. But if you are right about not being able to use the 3 features, then yes, I am wrong. Thank you for elaborating with better detail and a link for me to read. Now everyone that had the same misunderstanding have a reference.xXCARL1992Xx wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023 14:12 i have a 3070 and there is no DX Ultimate in DXdiag either (ofc Windows 10 is updated beyond the version needed, 2004 or something but Windows 10 wont show this in DXDiag anyway, only Windows 11 does), you constantly say you wont be able to play the game IF SCS decides to use DX12U, i say this is nonsense, because you still will be able to play the games
the only thing you wont get is the 3 big new feauters advertised with it, better RayTracing (even with DX12 you wouldnt get it because it isn an RTX card) Mesh Shading and Variable Rate Shading, you say people who bought a card before 2020 will not be able to play the games IF SCS decides to use DX12U, which is FALSE, so it doesnt matter when what GPU released as long as is it at least GTX 900 or higher
just to jumpstart your brain, your EXACT words:
"I upgraded from a workstation card to a GTX 1080 gpu is which was DX12 already though. As much as I'd like SCS to go DX12 ultimate, my card does not meet that though. DX12 came out in 2020. That would reduce the player base even more beyond 2020."
the GPU release is utterly irrelevant for 5 generations of nvidia GPUs, there will be nothing reduced, people with GTX900 and GTX1000 series will be just as able to play these games, if it would have DX12U, as i would be able to play it with my RTX3070, is this so hard to comprehend ?
and YOU read about DX12 ?
https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/ ... -ultimate/An Additive Benefit
DirectX12 Ultimate is fundamentally an additive initiative that provides gamers with assurance that their hardware meets the highest bar for feature support in next-generation games.
It is very important to note that DX12 Ultimate will not impact game compatibility with existing hardware which does not support the entire breath of DX12 Ultimate features. In fact, next-generation games which use DX12 Ultimate features will continue to run on non-DX12 Ultimate hardware. Though such hardware won’t provide the visual benefits of the new features, it can still provide a very compelling gaming experience on next generation games, depending on the specifics of the hardware.
The PC ecosystem encompasses a broad variety of hardware and DX12 Ultimate makes that ecosystem strictly better with no adverse effect on hardware which does not support DX12 Ultimate!

Re: Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
i most likely didnt articulate myself good enough but basically what i mean it doesnt matter what GPU you have, if it is made for DX12 it works with everything from DX12 (12_0, 12_1 or 12_2) you just wont be able to use the latest bells and whistles because the hardware is missing (Tensor and RT cores for Raytreacing for example)
you can even go as far back as GTX 600 series, and it would still run but without the new stuff, at least i saw Cyberpunk 2077 running on a GTX 600 series card with DX12 and it is a pure DX12 game

I think FSR should work for the 1080, if that were to be implemented in the game.xXCARL1992Xx wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023 14:28 software ray tracing, yeah, not worth it at all and you dont even get DLSS with it to make it bearable iirc, not that DLSS 1.0 would have helped much

Re: Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
As I said, we can really go back until 400 series (and that's the reason they are there on minimum SCS specs). But probably the lack of raw performance doesn't allow those ice-age GPU to do not even start CyberpunkxXCARL1992Xx wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023 18:30you can even go as far back as GTX 600 series, and it would still run but without the new stuff
Re: Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
i tried to alter the setting but unfortunately i didn't worked as i hoped, still getting always the big hick-up nwhile autosave and the notification shows still up.
i correct my last statement the cfg file was not correctly saved! The message is gone. the stutter is still clearly noticeable but shorter. So its better then before. Perhaps a switch for disabling autosave could be introduced in the future. If the sim runs stable a save at the end of the session or manually forced should be enough.
Re: Engine upgrade and DX12 coming to ETS2 and ATS!
This is stated much better for me to grasp. My mind is old now so I have to have the reasoning behind a thought in order for me to get something. I get it now though. Thanks for correcting my misunderstanding. If SCS ever goes DX12U, it can be wayyyyy down the line. Solid chance the extra things DX12U offers is over kill for current day SCS titles.xXCARL1992Xx wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023 18:30 i most likely didnt articulate myself good enough but basically what i mean it doesnt matter what GPU you have, if it is made for DX12 it works with everything from DX12 (12_0, 12_1 or 12_2) you just wont be able to use the latest bells and whistles because the hardware is missing (Tensor and RT cores for Raytreacing for example)

@Tomsun SCS are not going to make autosave optional.
