r_buffer_page_size in config file - what is the best setting?
Hi guys,
I play on Win 7, GTX 1060 (6 GB) with 8 GB ram. What will be the best r_buffer_page_size setting for me? Default is 10. I got 50. Is it good or not enough, or perhaps too much? I have rare, strange game freezes from time to time (with no errors in log). The freeze always starts with lagging radio, after that, the screen completely stops after few seconds. I use no graphic
or traffic mods, no custom AI cars etc.
Could it be FMOD issue (freeze starting with radio problems), or something else, dunno. I'm trying to figure it out what is going on, so I want to resolve this buffer page size matter first.
Any tip and hint very appreciated!

Unless you are running traffic mods or have your traffic value set high, it probably doesn't need to go over 20.
You'll know it's too low if vehicles start showing up with missing parts (doors etc not showing)

Thank you for your reply. I didn't increase any traffic values in config, def files etc, I use default settings for this. What I would like to know, can this 50 for buffer size cause any issues in game? Is it completely safe? Like I said in my previous post, I'm trying to find perpetrator for those random, rare freezes...

My buffer page size now is at default (10) and i have a lot of ai traffic mods. Is 10 enough or should i use more? I also have some rare freezes. Thanks

r_buffer_page_size won't help with freezes. If it's too low, you'll see vehicles missing parts (doors etc)

Thanks. But what causes freezes then?
Re: r_buffer_page_size in config file - what is the best setting?
very strange what is happening to you @bumbumek
I use windows 7 64 bits with settings
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 630
Memory 11 GB
it's actually 12 gb plus I threw 1 gb for video card.
when I was in game version 1.45 there were places where my fps was at 6, but that was all it was, and I used a Traffic mod to see how the game was and even then it didn't freeze and neither did the screen stop completely for me
already in version 1.46 I played very little, until now.
I hope I helped you

Thank you for your post dear @Boy. Actually my freezes and crashes stopped after removing all map mods. Now I play on SCS map only, so far so good. Probably those custom maps were very harmful for my system, they needed more resources my PC could give...Who knows
Re: r_buffer_page_size in config file - what is the best setting?
Glad you found the problem.
Yeah, there are many maps that are heavier than the scs map.

So if i have a lot of traffic mods (Jazzycat ao) i should increase my buffer size (now at 10)?
No missing parts yet and traffic value is at 1.0
