Suggestion noted - I had a look at those racks and I do have some ideas, which I may eventually put to life.
For now though, I just reworked the SCS one, added some bits and bobs to it and called it a day.
And most importantly, I changed the cab to the 48" sleeper, as I felt like the high roof looked really goofy on a workhorse of this kind.
I think it turned out fairly well in the end. Oh and also, new, a bit more basic paintjob.

The 48" 49X will become my new fleet heavy hauler spec.
But, I still need a worthy flagship. I've been jumping between multiple trucks, but I tend to stick to Western Stars mostly. I do kinda like the 5700XE, but I'm not a massive fan of the cab/interior. And 57X just doesn't look good for me. So I decided to spec out yet another 49X, this time making sure it will be a comfy Highway King.
So I started with the 72" sleeper and 6x4 chassis, but made it shorter, as the SCS one suffers the typical "longness disease" I also went for extended cab aero from Freightliner Cascadia, because yeah, the 49X may not be the most aerodynamic truck, but it's still nice to save an extra liter of fuel every now and then

Following Billy's advice I went through Iconic's catalogue and decided to make a set of 24" stepboxes (I am considering going for shorter 18" ones to further save on chassis length, not sure yet though), also reworked the headache rack to match Iconic's base specs.

Last but not least, the interior. I went for digi-dash, since WS does offer them for 49X. But since I'm not a fan of boring black, or brown leather seats, I went for blue ones instead. Also, decided to cover the main dash panel with the same wood you can find on the regular (premium) 49X dashboard. And to top it off, I custom ordered a matching SCI steering wheel

This should be good enough of a ride, at least until SCS releases the new VNL

Looks very nice Wolfi. How does the trailer look attached now with the shorter chassis and the extended aero?

This is how the truck-trailer distance looks right now:
This is extended aero, 10 inch shorter chassis and fifth wheel pushed forward additional 4 inches.

Could probably make it even closer with custom cable holder and even shorter chassis, but then again, 49X isn't really an aero truck, so not that big of a deal for me.

Aand back to my favorite truck - the WS 49X
Straight from the service, fitted with proper cab suspension (because I like how it feels on the VNL and I wanted to check how easy/hard it would be to convert)

So yeah, conversion is doable, but it's not an easy task, at least for a truck that has hood merged with cab model (like the WS 49X), so I wouldn't really expect any old SCS truck being officially converted anytime soon
