I'd be doing everything I can to get a few cabovers in ATS. Maps is one thing but the game sells on maps and trucks. The trailers people can get over. The traffic customs I think anyone can pick up ATS and enjoy it because its all in one language and fairly uniform. But the truck roster does limit ATS's player base. I wait the day to see ATS avg at least 12-15K players. ETS2 avgs more than 30k players daily. ATS can't touch that even with better maps.
Older trucks, hands on interactivity, and other features would greatly improve the appeal of this game.

I saw you mentioned the FLB in one post (might have been this one). I would love to see, heck I would pay a small price for a DLC one. I'd pay a larger price if it had interactive features like a raisable cab, sliding fifth wheel, interactive dash switches, and an accessible sleeper with usable storage space.

So I believe these free NEWish trucks we get periodically take so long because the only manufacturers incentive to give SCS the license is advertising. I assume they dont get much or any payment from SCS for the inclusion of these trucks. I could be wrong but I wouldn't see how SCS would offset that financially if they were paying them. That being said, if they did release paid classic DLC the manufacturers would probably be more willing to hand out the license as they would be making royalties off of every truck pack that was sold. Pretty sure these packs would get pushed out in a comparatively quick fashion. I am definitely all for it. Diversity makes the world better.

Trucks I would love to see added is a 1952 Diamond 923 cabover, 1955 Diamond T 951, 1955 LTL Mack, 1955 White WC22, International Sightliner, while the Ford C600 is in Farming Simulator and so is the International 4740B, I would love to see those trucks added to ATS. The other trucks I would love to see added is the White 3000 cabover, the White Road Boss, and the White Road Commander.

379 will be nice, but why didn't you mention 385? This is also a good old model.

The 385 did not get enough votes to make the list, so no it wasn't added due to lack of supporting votes. This list was made 11 months ago and once the poll is set, it won't be reset unless SCS ever decided to bring a truck from this list. I'll take more suggestion then. I am sure more people with provide more input if they know SCS will bring us out of production trucks.

Oh ok got it. But I think the main difficulty is that old trucks are equipped with manual gearbox, but as we see in the game is missing, even for trucks equipped with a manual transmission there is no lever and by default it's automatic. Maybe it's impossible to make a manual transmission, or they just don't want to do it, since ATS and ETS are not super realistic truck driving simulators, but rather an arcade game.

I always did think it was odd they didnt add the shifter when a manual trans was chosen (not gameplay option but actual tranny). I think all the trucks they have released so far in both games are available in both manual and amt at least (except for DAF, maybe scania, not too familiar with all euro options). Maybe something license related or whatever with modeling the eaton shifter. They could just always do a generic one though.

Perhaps not all players will be able to use a manual transmission and shift gears correctly. Moreover American trucks have a very difficult transmission, where there can be 18 gears, and with upshifts and downshifts 36. The game is designed for ease of comfortable driving, taking cargo from one place and carrying it from another, enjoying the scenery along the way.

Thats why I mentioned "not gameplay option but actual tranny". For instance if you fit the truck with a 18spd eaton then the interior modeling should reflect it with having the stick.....whether the gameplay options are set to auto, sequential, or H.

Edit: and to your pic, yes an 18spd can be upshifted and then downshift for a total of 36 shifts. It is likely never driven in that manner. The many gears, hi/low, and splits are there to give you the optimum ratio required at any given moment so you can be pulling without being too high or too low in your torque band. 10spd trucks tend to have to rev higher to catch the next gear at a good pull rpm. 18spd that is not necessary because you have several options in between where a 10spd doesn't.

36 shift definitely are not necessary in ATS. Even in real life, a trucker won't go thru all the gears all the time and they won't always get high in the gears unless they are on the highway. LO is rarely used if its not necessary. In ATS, I shift my 18 speed more like 13speed and sometimes even like a 7 speed (I typically don't go past 7H). I also don't always need to split gears and its rare I have to use LO if not on an incline with a heavy load. In fact I only split when I'm typically heavy hauling.
