Lost VR

#1 Post by gryper » 18 Dec 2021 01:16

I had to update Windows today. Now -openvr isn't working in 1.43. I did a file integrity check on Steam and it still won't work. Ive selected the openVR 1.43 from the beta menu. It was working yesterday and the past several days. I spent all day yesterday getting my mods to work without a CTD with 1.43. And now today no more VR. Steam VR should not be running either. I've ran ATS without Steam VR popping up for quite awhile. Now it seems to have attached itself to Steam VR. I have Rift S.

ETS2 is working in VR normally still. But I reverted back 1.42 until Promods updates. It DOES use Steam VR. But ATS never had to.

Any solution to this?

Thanks.

Does anyone know the complete story of VR with this thing? Sometimes it works then a new update, it doesn't? I never hear anyone mention VR with this game. Do only 1% of the people use this game in VR?

Pretty sure it is only a fraction of 1%.
VR is a small project by a single employee during his free time, so it almost always quite a ways behind the main branch in terms of updates.
If it only stopped working after updating Windows, try reverting the update or-updating, as well as update your graphics drivers. Windows tends to break things on its updates.

That few? Even if it's 10% I would be really surprised. This game is great in VR. It works great (when it works ha), and looks fantastic. My bed at home is right behind my computer and it coincidentally matches my truck interior. I can go in the back of the truck in VR and sit/lay down on my bed. It's pretty cool. I wish they would devote a bit more effort into it, but I'm thankful for what they do already.

It would be nice if VR was fully supported as it is in some other games. That said, VR is quite a bit out of most player's price range (especially when you consider many save up for a long while just to get a decent PC).
I've used VR once, but never really considered buying one myself due to the price. I'm perfectly fine playing games the same way I have been for years, and VR doesn't offer anything worth the many hundreds of dollars it costs, at least not yet.
I love the idea of it, and hope it expands.

I only paid $300 for my Rift S. Not bad if you already have a good system.

I can't get ATS to run in VR right now. Guess I'll only use ETS for this cycle.

$300 is on the low end of VR, and still costs more than most PC components and input/output devices. The only things I can think of that tend to reach that price are GPU and CPU.

I have the same problem.
But I was only recently able to get ETS2 1.43 to work with the AirLink application and the -oculus parameter ...
