Camera moves after pausing

#1 Post by SirDoctorK » 09 Jan 2022 00:31

Demonstration: https://youtu.be/kGEN5xz4Uso (partially cropped as I haven't updated my OBS settings since getting an ultrawide)

After moving the camera, resetting to interior camera, pausing and unpausing, sometimes the camera will suddenly move with no input.
  • happens with both types of pause ("pause" or "menu" according to Steam controller config)
  • seems to move in the opposite direction of the initial camera movement
  • moves a similar distance to the initial movement
  • direction and distance do not seem to affect whether it happens or not
  • also happens when using the exterior camera - moving it and resetting to interior sometimes triggers it
  • appears unaffected by the time between the described actions
The attached game log is from a different session during which I also observed the bug.

Using Xbox Elite controller with customized Steam controller config
Game version 1.43.2.12s
Windows 10 x64
Sometimes reproducible

Hi,

we cant reproduce this issue.
Can you try to make new profile, reset controls in option menu?

Let us know if your issue is solved or not.

Thank you

Appreciate the update. I have replicated this on two different profiles in ETS2 and with a standard Xbox non-elite controller.

I've also done more fiddling and found out what was causing the problem.

With the 1.43 update, I found myself missing some of the old controller UI behaviors, so I replicated the right stick functionality by setting it to be a Generic Directional Pad as shown in the attached screenshot. I found that I couldn't replicate it with the default controller config, but just making that change to the UI and UI > Default action layers started to make the problem happen.

I used the Generic D-Pad setting because that's what seemed to be used in the pre-1.43 default config, so I suspect part of the 1.43 changes caused this weird edge case when using this old controller config. I will be trying out other settings to see if I can work around this problem.
