[REL] Peterbilt 359 - RELEASE!

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

xXCARL1992Xx wrote: 16 Dec 2022 15:12 that isnt true at all, the game loads as fast with or without compression, i have many mods in zip format and many just a folder and there is no difference, only sound files are not allowed to be compressed, if you loose performance because of compression you should upgrade your CPU

loading time ingame only increases because of number of files loaded, not because of the size of them
your comment is contradictory and isn't true at all XDDDD

There is a big difference between using a 50 or 200 MB truck mod than a 2GB one

But I won't waste time discussing this with you either out of respect for the Outlaw

I just hope the actual size goes down compared to other (smaller) trucks mods 'cause I' got these decrease and here using this one.
bye

perfectly missed the point of the argument, Outlaw doesnt has to do anything, if your PC is so weak it chugs while decompressing mods this is on you

Not sure I understand the issue, or the reason for unpacking it? A quick check through my own mod folder and most trucks seem to hover around 3-700 mb at 4x-ish compression.

I spent a stupid amount of time optimizing the 359 to eliminate any resource hogs. And 80% of the size of the mod itself can be attributed to certain textures as well as the large selection of paintjobs - practically none of which are ever loaded or active simultaneously at any point. So if there's an issue, it's probably not the unpacked size.

One experiment you could do is compare the simplest build (daycab, SCS wheels, solid grill, straight pipes) to the most complex one (worn version, max accessories, lights/flares, mesh grille, exhaust with heatshield etc). More complex models should have a wayyy larger impact on performance than the size of an idle texture folder.

No matter what's said about the 359x I love it.

If you're having problems running ATS try switching over to a dedicated SSD to run only it. It's so much faster than a SATA drive and frees up space on it. It's what I plan on doing with my 1TB SSD drive, but I've got to figure out how to transfer ATS and ETS 2 over to it and get shortcuts to open them up. I've got 2 SSD drives so I can just plug either one into my motherboard. So that takes care 98% of the battle. Just so you know, all new motherboards since 2018 will only run Windows 10, nothing before it, and most have the fixture to add an SSD drive to it like my MSi Mag B550 Tomahawk AMD motherboard does.

this isnt trrue, you can install Windows 7/8/8.1 on all newer motherboard, there is a difference if it is supported with drivers or if it is hard locked (wich it isnt), only the CPU can be "compatible" and only because of drivers again, also and SSD is SATA, there is no slower protocol to connect them with, what you mean is an nVME SSD wich is connected directly on the motherboard instead of with a cable

When I bought it a Micro Center store, I asked 4 different people if it would run 8.1 and all said no. So, I tried to install Windows 8.1 on this motherboard anyways, and it would not install. If you know of a way to change it to run 8.1, could you point me in the right direction? I hate 10 and want nothing to do with 11.

On the VME SSD, I didn't know that is what it's called. Thank you.

It's time to take this tech support conversation elsewhere.

Stunning truck!!! Looking forward to more updates on it. Will there be a chance for the shorter hood variant and even add a lift axle?
