Improve the game a lot more people would play.
SCS needs to add the abilty to actially walk (with animation of opening the doors). And the ability to get supplies or shower breaks at truck stops, or add oil/inspect ur truck. Would also be nice if we could load and unload the cargo ourselves (maybe optional). Also we should be able to customize garages and actually see our npc trucks sitting in there, instead of only 1 door opening. It would also be nice if there was an option to actually sleep in the motels when you come across one, perhaps for money. This way the game will not be only driving, but based around the actual life of a trucker.

Almost all of these things are suggested constantly (not that it hurts to suggest them again).
Nothing will happen until Pavel wants to expand the gameplay beyond simple driving.

SCS should listen to the wishes of their fans. Their simulators get bored quickly. If they do not add anything, then in 10 years nobody will need them. SCS will bury its project without completing it.

That's fare assessment. Game market is changing and open-world sandbox style games with walking and various world interactions are trending. It would be smart for SCS to work hard in this direction already.

They have the map. It's just everything else that is missing. More pedestrians and animals, better ai, more detail objects (like trash and pallets), weathered textures, and the ability to walk would do a ton for this game.
Re: Improve the game a lot more people would play.
They do nothing BUT add stuff. Free trucks, extra trailers, more maps. Continually improving the game. And they've been doing it for 25yrs now with almost 30 published titles.HappyHippo wrote: ↑15 May 2022 20:52If they do not add anything, then in 10 years nobody will need them.
But, you're right.. sounds flimsy.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

They could at least complete the roads behind the crosses. To have more alternative roads.

You don't understand the reason those roads exist, do you?
Open world sandbox game, lol, GTA V kids are back in town.

@pigbrother Thanks for your comment, your commentary is always a pleasure to read, such high level of discussion really driving the topics forward. Truly remarkable input, well done.pigbrother wrote: ↑17 May 2022 09:44 You don't understand the reason those roads exist, do you?

To the topic: of course SCS should keep up with the times, and from all aspects of gameplay and graphics it looks like they don’t. Glad to see more and more people seeing the stagnation going on with SCS. It must be pointed out before this game fades into obscurity due to old tech and unwillingness to change - all too present both at SCS and in this community - if ATS is going to have any chance of attracting new players the coming years.

The gameplay is totally in stagnation, but I don't see walking as the most immediate need. Even though I would love getting out of the truck and come to the security booth or the office at the companies to get parking assignments and cargo availability, I'm fine with the way it works now. I have more concerns with the excessively simplified economy. No monthly insurance for each truck. No maintenance and or utility bills for garages. No repair is possible at the garages. No time spent on vehicle repairs (instant). Job selection is nearly constant and does not include supply/demand (WoT could become a trucking version of FSEconomy). Sleeping berth plays no role except cosmetic. And we still have no weight management per axle, no tire pressure simulation, not even engine overheating. And of course, better weather system and seasons would be insanely popular additions. There is plenty to add to the game before walking and other ideas described by OP. And most are relatively easy to implement. Seasons would be the hardest, I think, but it would be praised universally for sure.
