SOLVED: The game can't see certain Steam mods

#1 Post by Kultag » 18 May 2022 18:17

Since ATS was updated to 1.44.1, my Mod Manager behaves strangely: it cannot detect certain mods that I'm subscribed to, yet they appear in the active mods' list, without logo, and with the red exclamation point. So far, I used all these mods without problems. The mods are:
ATS Police Tweaks (contains a single file, of police) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2353262093
Smart 20In Steering Wheels - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2659093914
vnlbho (a VNL paintjob) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2172762082
Cummins N14 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2339049888
ZF TraXon - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2409230284
Real Tires - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =646589577

What I tried so far:
- Restarting my computer.
- Check game file integrity with Steam.
- Unsubscribe, verify that the mod folder was deleted, launch game, resubscribe, launch game.

When I zipped in the contents of the Police Tweaks mod into the mods folder, the game saw it.

Game log of a start, entering into the Mod Manager, then quitting:

What's going on here? Why the game doesn't see these mods?

I'm just really excited that you have Ford LTL and Aeromax!

I want these so much, where can I find them?

I'm trying to create copies of all the trucks my Dad drove, back in the day.

Others are reporting issues with mods and steam. It quite possibly could be an issue with Steam itself. Two nights ago I had trouble subscribing to a mod I wanted to try out. Third time was the charm, and it finally went through. It said I was subscribed but would not download even after starting the game several tries.

Could it be a Workshop Uploader issue?
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

v1.3 for the Aeromax 120:
https://atsmod.net/american-truck-simul ... v1-3-1-40/
However, for me, the orange beacons appear inside to roof spoiler (also with 1.2), so I kept an older version, this:
https://atsmods.lt/ford-aeromax-fixed-f ... -ets2-ats/
Try the newer one, and see if it works for you.

I now deleted all my mod files from the workshop folder (steamapps\workshop\content\270880\), and made Steam to redownload them all. The result is the same.

My suspicion is that with 1.44.1 (now updated to .4), something was broken in my files. So now I'm going to start deleting ATS files, and make Steam to download them again. Fingers crossed.

I'm also experiencing this. It's so bizarre how when you subscribe or unsubscribe from additional mods it'll 'shuffle' which mods are hidden. I'm fairly certain that this is a problem with the game and not an issue on Valve's end because the first mod I noticed missing I could see was completely unmodified on my hard drive since I last played.

I've tried deleting both the "...\steamapps\common\American Truck Simulator" and "...\steamapps\workshop\content\270880\" folders then verifying my game and letting everything redownload. Still the same issue. Only thing I can think of is someone messed up at SCS or a broken mod we all have in common is somehow doing this without even being enabled.

Edit:
I completely forgot about this, but when I downgraded to 1.43 via the Steam betas tab, it still behaved the same. So I'm really stumped as to what the cause could be.

What's probably telltale is that it immediately came up after 1.44 was updated to 1.44.1. I can only hope for a fix bc it now seems that there are multiple people experiencing this.
I tried, and could successfully transfer all the affected mods from Steam to the manual mod folder, and the game recognized all of them. So undoubtedly, it's not the mods that are broken. My guess is a game bug, that's why checking the game file consistency doesn't solve this. Maybe your 1.43 downgrade kept some files from 1.44.1. Have you tried deleting everything from the ATS folder in that state too?

Also, I'm going to write on the feature wish list here to add the active mods list to some kind of log. Right now, AFAIK, there's no easy way of exchanging mod lists.

Not easily, but it is stored in the save game profile.sii, which you can convert to plaintext with one of the decryptor tools.

It's also listed in the game.log.txt but that is annoying to parse through.
