Less AI Traffic?

#1 Post by Fawls » 19 May 2022 04:52

Is there any way to reduce the volume of traffic?
I find driving around in the middle of nowhere at 3 am and finding streams of traffic a bit unrealistic.

Default AI traffic volume is set to 1. Setting it to 0 removes all traffic.

There are traffic mods that update traffic to better densities based on time of day. Beats me why SCS don't do this when they've set it up to be able to be done.

As stated default value is 1 or 0 for no traffic but you can try also g_traffic 0.1 - 0.9 for better values.

Yes, one of the problems the game still has is constant traffic independent of time of day. There are no rush hours, no weekends, nothing matters.
As said before, console command g_traffic is the way to change it. They didn't say that the value should work above 1 as well. 1 = 100%, but if you put 5 you will get 500%, simulating rush hour. Unfortunately, spawn points work weird and we never get natural traffic flow regardless of those values.

It is possible to have a rush hour @rookie31st. Cip's traffic has that built in, but there's a script in the brutal traffic thread that does the same for it. I'd recommend that one if you can run it.

Interesting. Glad to see people figured this out already. I will try the brutal traffic mode. Thank you for the info!

Yeah, I believe braniac is the one that shared the file. Could be wrong. It's towards the end, but makes it quiet at night and heavy in the day.

I need to put it back in soon!
