Ferry Collection for ETS2 v2023.01.24

This package contains the Ferry Collection for ETS2 v2023.01.24 mod.

Some cities with ports are quite close to each other, but they don't have a ferry connection in between.
This mod adds some extra ferry connections to shorten the distance between those cities.

Most of those ferry connections are unnecessary but one really useful would be a Trondheim-Bodo ferry connection, so you don't have to drive a detour over sweden.

I can only create ferry connections between existing ports... If a city doesn't have a port, I cannot create a ferry connection, as it would mean that I have to use the map editor to create a port. That's something I don't want to do (yet).

I had already started looking into adding more connections, hadn't really got very far yet.

One tool you might find useful is http://ports.com/sea-route/ as this helps get a bit more accurate distances. It's not perfect, but it's not terrible either

It gives the distances in Nautical Miles, and we use KM in the connection files, simply take the NM distance and multiply it by 1.852

It also gives sailing times and allows you to adjust the speed, which for short routes is likely to be slow but for ones such as the Far East to Europe you could have a quite high cruising speed.

Thanks for the tips! My goal is not to make very realistic ferry connections; it's just for an alternative route when you otherwise would have to take a long detour. I've chosen a speed of 40 km/h. The distance I can now be found using this website ports.com.

But what about the price? I certainly don't want to figure out what a realistic price is for each of the ferry connections, because now I only have 3 ferry connections, but in the future I might hav 30+ ferry connections. So, what would be a 'normal' price? How much does it cost when you take the ferry? In euro/km or dollar/mi (it's no problem for me to convert distance, time, valuta, etc).

I didn't find a good solution for the pricing yet. I have ALL the ferry connection files from your Load Order up until the start of this week, which i can use for comparison. I just need to write a script to generate the data from all the original files.

I think I just multiply the distances with some factor to get the price. The economics of the game isn't realistic either.

That's true, I have several profiles with hundreds of millions, without any mods that mess with the price

in the next update, any chance of Brensholm to Kirkenes and Bergen to Stavanger, Stavanger to Kristiansand? and maybe Reyofjordur (eastern Iceland) to Brensholm please Vinnie ??
