Because given the amount of blocked off roads, the map would be covered with them.

A row of traffic cones would look better, but would seem odd when AI sail right through...

After running the sim for a while with the x marks removed, I’ve found myself checking the maps and road signs closer (as in the real world) to make sure I’m on the right roads. This is a nice immersion perk I didn’t think would have much of an impact but it does. Instead of blindly driving, I’m more aware of the routs I’m taking. At this point I couldn’t go back.

The other most immersive mod for me is the icon remover one.

I've switched them off since 1.45 and I love it, much more realistic and like Jimg123, it's taught me to be more careful about navigation, just like you would in a real truck...
