There's nothing to "program", it's about making a lower quality 3d model of the truck to put in traffic, they can't just put the "player" truck in traffic or it will cause some performance problems, but i'm sure they will get around it eventually.

@JoeAlex23 Thanks for your reply. Hope they get it managed eventually. It seems this has no priority for them at all lately. Would be a shame not to have these trucks in traffic.

If you can have convoy mode with high poly trucks, you can have it in traffic too.
They could make it at least an option for non-potato PC players. (g_high_poly_traffic or something experimental)

Now, you have a point. People who don't have PC potato don't care about that. And the SCS models aren't high-poly. Maybe a little heavier for the "AI Traffic" standard, but overall I don't consider them high-poly.

I dunno if that'd work. I have a higher end (well, I'd consider it higher end) new PC (Ryzen5800X, RTX308012GB, 32GB DDR4 RAM, games on one M.2 drive, OS on a seperate M.2 drive). My ISP bandwidth (1Gbps download 100mbps upload which I test regularly given what I pay for internet speed) I dunno if the game is optimized for a number of high poly models.... And whenever I drive with my friends (especially with the high detail vehicles) I'll see a mild stutter when we are driving near each other. When there are 3 or more of us driving together, that stutter gets a little worse. I really gotta imagine my machine is orders of magnitude past what the game actually needs to run smoothly.

There is a reason why we don't see all truck models at truck stops either. The reason there is also that we need much lower Ai quality trucks. Apparently the AI trucks we do see in traffic, is still too much for truck stops. Sure there are mods that do it but that's a mod. Mods can careless about everyone's pc. SCS doesn't have the luxury to not care.

It's sad that SCS leans so heavily on the lower end customer that leaving them behind would probably mean the end of SCS.

What happens if these players get tired of the game? There's not a growing community of low end computer users.

Yeah, most people who play this game have a mid range to high end system. And I finally got a new pc, but the gpu caught on fire for no reason. Anyways, SCS should not lean so heavily on lower end customers. Because most people who play any game in general have a mid to high pc. And if a lot of the low end users quit playing the game, then scs could maybe make things like graphics look better. SCS should try to make this game have the ability to do ray tracing, and dlss. That would provide a superior experience while playing the game. it would make it look beautiful. This and ets2 with that could get even more popular.
Nothing to say here anymore.

The mass amount of games out there now don't even use raytrace. There are more beneficial things that can happen before ATS ever needs raytracing.

That could work but is not advised, it's better to have dedicated truck models to be for the AI traffic, doesn't matter how powerful your PC is, you will notice those trucks being in traffic instantly. It's about making things better for everyone, the less resources the game uses in one thing, the more can be used in other more important things.
