interior lighting workaround

The cabin is really dark at night (yes I know it's because it's night time) but I cannot see it and I drive with kb and mouse.
As a workaround I added a locator high above the driver's head in interior model and it's hokup is the orangeled (used for parking lights). It works really well for me and illuminates the steering wheel exactly how I want but I want to change the colour to dark blue.
I looked at Viper's 389 which has interior lighting in different colours, but it also has a 2d plane mesh in the middle of the interior's ceiling with 9 locators pointing downwards. This lights the whole cabin and I just want the wheel lit in dark blue.
Any advice is much appreciated.
