Yeah, new states, new industries, new trucks, and new trailers bring more of the same.dan4815 wrote: ↑14 Aug 2022 20:37 ATS is my most played game (1000h+). I have every right to be tired at times, and we probably all have moments where we are actively interested in the game but not playing it. However, I have to write that I have noticed that I am having trouble staying with the game for long periods of time. I still haven't even gotten through Montana (Ok, I flew out on vacation three days after release). The question is what the reason behind this is. I don't have that imagination anymore? Do I need more sensations and opportunities interact with the world? Or is it that the map environments are always repetitive due to the technical limitations of the engine (small mountains, poor sense of size, low density vegetation and bland textures)? Maybe everything. After so many hours played, the player knows every detail of the game, and nothing surprises them that much anymore. It's like a drug - at first you can't stop, it does you very well. As time goes on, it becomes harder to feel similar interest and feelings, and the user has to compensate for that with something. As far as the game is concerned, he wants to use the new features to get more into the action of the game.
We got Montana, but while beautiful, it's just more roads. We still can't buy yards for our trucks, customize these yards, or set up truck-related businesses. Most deliverable businesses are still square; many areas are still blocked; and the roads still have nary a bump.
We got landscaping, silane gas, recycling, and landscaping as industries, but these cargoes are still delivered as all others: park in green box, turn engine off, hit enter.
We got the 57X, but it came with no new features either. No sliding fifth wheel. No sleeper access. No cab suspension. No opening doors or hoods. No access to interior compartments. No moving flaps or antennas. Just another nicely modeled brick on cylinders.
And we got tankers and bulk trailers as ownables, but again, they are essentially a new shape for old ideas.
I don't know if SCS just wants to stick with a script, or maybe they are planning a major overhaul at some point.
But the game as it stands is a lot of repetition and very little novelty or interactivity. I play it weekly, and don't plan to stop, but I would love to be able to do more than imagine.
