That makes sense i guess, only saw it drive by, didn't research it, it looked like a European Magnum, but with a Mack badge.

I think it's reasonable to say that fleet buyers would influence those sales figures. It'd be interesting to see those figures without fleet sales. I largely stopped steering some years ago, but when I was bitumen brawling Kenworth and Mack owned the roads in the majority of linehaul applications. K200 was designed and built here for many years, probably still is. Mack Titan was originally designed for Australian conditions. The Euro trucks are efficient, quiet and worthy but when it comes to pure unadulterated grunt, nothing beats KW or Mack, imho.

Some newbie driver wrote: 17 Aug 2022 18:36 If I recall right, no Magnum was "branded" Mack. Those ones still had the Renault badge and names as main ones. But they include the big "Mack" name in the front on those who used a high power engine that came from Mack. Mack was more like the "sub-model" name than the brand. Some kind of special edition name.

No, Renault owned Mack in the past, and given Mack already had a significant presence in Australia (as opposed to Renault) they chose to brand Renault trucks with the Mack name. Of course Mack is now owned by Volvo and afaik Renault trucks are a thing of the past in Australia.

Ah, OK @natvander, thanks for the info. I know I saw those "mack" Magnums here in Europe and I recall them having their name due that reason of the engine. Or maybe I don't remember right the reason, but for sure I saw a few Magnums in here with all the Renault logos and also the big MACK letters in the front. I assumed the reason was the same on Australia.

I was gonna say, where in Europe,... cause they were never popular where i live, then i did a Google search and found one with a Dutch plate :-)

Can't find any info about it on the Dutch dmv website, that could have given some info about it's registration details.

There are other examples with even larger MACK logos

in Europe it was only a Magnum with a Mack V8 engine that got the Mack as a side badge to show it has the V8 in it but Mack itself never sold any truck here, thats why it is a Renault Magnum with extra Mack badge on it, in Australia it was purely sold under the Mack name, also ? idk if the Renault Magnum had any say on the AUS market

Yeah, well, they'll have to make an appointment like everyone else :)
There's a good representation of Scania in the cities, hauling single trailers n such. I had a 26ton Scania rigid twin-steer in '94 for linehaul.
But out in the middle and the stock routes? Not much. Even across SA and WA Kenworth and Mack are king.
Scania's are rather comfy.
