At this scale it would be an equivalent of a large chicane
Ch_R0me wrote: 09 Nov 2022 20:10 By the way, you should notice that the DK6 in Bożepole Wielkie was already redesigned (railway crossing was razed and replaced with bridge, wide enough to accomodate an second rail line, along with some quite long quarter of the main street to accomodate the exit), to cleanly go into the S6 towards the Chwaszczyno, so Strzebielino junction would be unnessesary.
I mean SCS doesn't really make junctions that lead nowhere, so if old DK6 wouldn't be used, they'd simply not make anything there.
Ch_R0me wrote: 09 Nov 2022 20:10 Also, speaking west from my home town... I mean - Koszalin. I know that there is still an S6 segment under construction (due to unforseen problems caused by marshes) from Koszalin Wschód junction to Sianów Wschód junction, from which the road would go just as the current DK6 goes, like in the Bożepole Wielkie village.
While we're at it, do you think that DK11 from <unmarked> Koszalin towards <unmarked> Piła, where it ends now, would be a worthy addition? I was thinking about this gap in the map (which is one of the largest in the game, not including rough terrain like in Norway or Pyrenees, where even IRL aren't too many roads to begin with) for a while but there isn't much that can be sensibly put there, if no cities are added. If Koszalin was there (highly doubt it) then sure, straight road towards Poznań, great. But without it? Even with Piła, which isn't a leader in industry anywhere so it would maaaaybe have one depot or two and a gas station, further addition of DK11 would do nothing - roads to Poznań, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz/Gdańsk are already there.

A huge cluster of companies including, but not limited to: Castorama, Inter Cars, DPD, Komputronik, DAF, Eurocash, just to name a few, on both sides of the A2 https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3517684 ... a=!3m1!1e3
Volkswagen, hard to miss https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3974917 ... a=!3m1!1e3
There's a MAN dealer on the far side of the S11, so that may be a stretch but it's not the furthest company from the city I've ever seen in this game. And there's Amazon warehouse on the other side of the road https://www.google.com/maps/place/MAN+T ... 16.7113954
Lisner, food manufacturer, just off the DK92 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Produ ... d16.897514 Signs say 10t limit, but that limit begins further than the company is, so no problem here.
Then we have a power plant and Bridgestone next to each other: https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4347568 ... a=!3m1!1e3
There's also IKEA and OBI right over here: https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3795494 ... a=!3m1!1e3 with simple access by road 433 from the A2.

All in all, the routes through the city would look like that: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/52.4480 ... bc!1m0!3e0

A2, between western junction with S5 and eastern with S11 has three lanes each way.
Yes, I was thinking in the exact way to create a sort of "ring" bewteen DK92 and A2 highway, by using S11 and S5 roads:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/52.3975 ... 58!1m0!3e0

Speaking about DK11/S11...
Aziz wrote: 09 Nov 2022 22:25 Also, addition od DK11 Poznań - Silesia would be welcome, https://www.google.com/maps/dir/52.3434 ... 4b!1m0!3e0 it is a commonly used road between those two regions, not only by small vehicles but by trucks as well, as they avoid dealing with Wrocław and the A4. Plus it brings back the balance between motorways and minor roads.

I'm aware that between Szczecin and Gdańsk there is a huge gap.

In Koszalin, the industry is concentrated in the west (right next to the S6/S11 junction), while in Piła, it's placed south-east, near DK11 road.

My suggestion would be to add these two cities as a minor, especially that some "depiction" of Piła already exists (in typical "vague" manner). I would just add the DK10 from Szczecin up to the Toruń, while DK11... SCS should consider adding it wholly, regardless. Especially the SCS added some of their fragments there already.

Also, speaking about Wrocław and A4... It's about time to open up the german Autobahn 15 towards Polish border, and then creating a brand new A18 highway to the Krzyżowa junction of A4 highway:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/51.3273 ... m2!4m1!3e0
It would be a perfect shortcut from Berlin to the Wrocław (Breslau).

I started thinking... while ring roads are an obvious choice, SCS seems to start getting more brave with making city centers. Look at Salzburg from not-that-old Austria rework.
Here it is in the game
And here is, with some obvious ommitions, the actual IRL route, according to those road numbers.
And they've shown, if I'm not mistaken, Pont du Mont Blanc in Geneva, which to me doesn't look like some industrial district on the outskirts, but a bridge that goes nearly through the city center.

So I've found this for Poznań
[ external image ]
And that gives the devs a lot more room for comfort, where everything aside of green, blue and pink areas/roads is available. So pretty much they can use nearly any company that exists outside of this: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/52.4430 ... 20!1m0!3e0
So in theory, we could still see the Poznań Stadium, the airport, Malta lake and its surroundings, maybe even catch a glimpse of the Spire if we're lucky.
I need to take a better look at these.

Since I was near MTP (Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie, famous by hosting Pyrkon convention), where the Spire is situated on Pavilion 11, I can tell that SCS would need to implement roads: DW 433 (from DK92, because it goes to A2 junction Poznań Krzesiny, from which it continues as S11 it may be a problem since it's pretty much next to the Poznań Wschód Junction)) and DW 196 (there may be a passthrough through Warszawska street, from which you may see the famous narrow-gauge Maltan Park Railway next to the lake).

With such, I think that such street density there would be enough for Poznań.

Sure, but they don't have to do all of it. A single road through the city is enough with scale in mind. Here's a little map I made with every bit possibly included (IMHO) https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... sp=sharing

I was digging more and found that mass limits in Gdynia aren't too restrictive and even more roads are accessible to heavy vehicles than I thought.
https://nadmorski24.pl/images/_original ... T1F0i5.jpg
So pretty much...
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... sp=sharing
This whole area.

As for Gdańsk, there's this. https://download.cloudgdansk.pl/gzdiz-p ... w-24-t.pdf
Red is limited, so it pretty much confirms what I found out earlier. Which means we could as easily get access to https://www.google.com/maps/@54.387712, ... !1e3?hl=pl as well.
Let's not get too shy, most cities in the game have at least 5 companies to choose from.

Looks good.

Anyway, we have 4 out of 18 cities done.

Now Olsztyn, then Białystok.

Olsztyn have a complete southern ring S16, stretching from DK16 in west up to the east, where it again continues as DK16. Also on the south, there is an S51 expressway, which (like DK16 westward) it connects with S7 Gdańsk - Warszawa expressway.
Eastward is the tire factory of Michelin Polska, a Central European branch of Michelin tire company, along with some other industries in the area.

So far, I've found the info that the alternative route to the DK16 is being built from A1 Nowe Marzy junction; seems like GDDKiA wants to extend the S5 route up to the Ostróda, which also may go through Grudziądz as well.

Also, there is an opportunity for a phototrophy: Near the S7 route there is a Grundwald battle site from years 1410 and 1914 (which then it was Tannenberg), which also hosts an museum dedicated for the first battle. The problem would be the RL accessibility, since Grunwald as a village, would have a hard time to accept truck traffic, unless SCS would decide to use creative license to implement a hidden road to it.

I'll admit that northeastern Poland is a very abstract idea for me, never been further east than Warsaw and not planning to - so I know very little. Anyway,

Olsztyn appears to be very loose when it comes to weight restrictions, plenty of wide roads even in the middle of the city, so not much to worry about. But, aside from Michelin and the whole industrial area, and maaaybe https://www.google.com/maps/place/SCHWA ... 3697?hl=pl there isn't much to visit.

So if we get the city moved into correct position (so that the road 51 doesn't end outside the city), get the ring road in place and use the Towarowa - Leonarda - Piłsudskiego - Mazowieckiego - Obrońców Tobruku, to get around the city, we may even get something to look at - Urania sport hall. Plus 51 southwest towards the ring road.

I think I'll try to contribute something since I think that Poland and Czech Republic should be the ones reworked after Benelux, instead of UK (I have my personal reasons like living there, but there are also obviously objective ones like the fact that Poland and Czech Republic are hard to avoid islands of bad quality in the otherwise decent or good quality areas like Germany, Austria, Scandinavia or Baltic Sea DLCs).

So – here’s some general ideas about economy

Reworks so far reused the same old companies (Like Stein Bruch for mining, EuroAcres for agriculture, TREE-ET for lumbermills, Sellplan for shopping centers, FCP for anything automotive related, etc.). Going East and especially Poland need to have unique companies

- Poland should have their own unique shops.
Poland has a lot of foreign shops (like Carrefour, IKEA, etc.) but there are also popular local ones like Biedronka or Dino. So while Carrefour and IKA definitely should exist in Poland there also should be some local chain unique to Poland. Biedronka is probably the best option to parody since it is one of the most popular
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biedronka
It should be named Stonka (it is funny because "stonka" means colorado beetle in Polish, also many people IRL jokingly name Biedronka as Stonka).
Preferably, there should be some kind of economy revamp that includes not only the shops but also distribution centers, so we deliver things like milk, food, etc. to distribution centers and then we haul "Stonka (or other shop) cargo” to Stonka shops.

- TREE-ET should be IMO replaced with "Tartak".
"Tartak" is a generic name for lumbermill but I think in that case generic company is better than fictional one – I don't think there's a single large wood processing company in Poland, there are many small generic "tartaks" in Poland. The wood however is provided by Lasy Państwowe, which is a state-owned company (could be parodied as "Lasy Polskie"), but that should be used only as wood harvest sites as Lasy Państwowe only sell cut trees, not the wooden planks for furniture & other proccesed wood. Since tartak is generic name, their trailers should have no logo at all – which would be a good think because in ETS2 almost all trailers have company logos, whereas in real life a lot of trailers are just plain white box.

- Agriculture
While EuroAcres might stay as generic name for farms I think that Poland rework should add some extra level of agriculture processing – for example milk can be delivered in tanks but in shops we buy it in boxes or bottles. So there’s where are dairy industry should be introduced. Most of Polish milk industry is farmer’s cooperative, so called "okręgowe spółdzielnie mleczarskie” therefore the best way to introduce such economy would be to use generic "Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska" name (OSM in short). Here are some examples of such companies that are reasonably close to major roads:

OSM Piątnica (near Łomża, could be as part of Białystok economy)
https://www.google.com/maps/@53.1995331 ... 384!8i8192

OSM Radomsko
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0547068 ... 312!8i6656

SM Ostrów Mazowiecka
https://www.google.com/maps/@52.8140161 ... 312!8i6656

Mlekpol in Bydgoszcz
https://www.google.com/maps/@53.147032, ... 312!8i6656

Mlekovita Kościan near Poznań (formerly OSM Kościan)
https://www.google.com/maps/@52.0904435 ... 384!8i8192

SM Łódź
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.7823711 ... 384!8i8192

OSM Ryki, near Lublin and S17
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.6206462 ... 384!8i8192

OSM Sierpc, between Toruń and Warsaw
https://www.google.com/maps/@52.8607335 ... a=!3m1!1e3

Note: OSM itself is a generic term, while "OSM Piątnica" or "OSM Radomsko" are names of specific companies. Unlike "Tartak" OSM could have some stylized logo on their trailers (despite being generic).
Logistic chains should look something like that:
EuroAcres or other farm provides milk in tanker –> OSM recieves it and reworkes it into bottled milk, cheese, yoghurts and other products –> these products are delivered to Stonka (or other shop) logistic centers –> all of that is delivered to local Stonka shops as "Stonka delivery cargo".

- Absolutely no Stein Bruch
Vast majority of the Polish mining industry is state-owned, mostly KGHM (copper and silver) and Polska Grupa Górnicza (coal), while petroleum industry is a Orlen territory. So seeing mining company with German name in Poland is very unlikely. Also speaking of Orlen – I remember that ETS2 at some point before release was supposed to have licenced gas stations
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mhopUhkFrw
All these brands (polish Orlen, czech Benzina and german Star) are Orlen owned. Maybe SCS could try to licence Orlen brands once more? Adding licenced Orlen could allow not only having licenced gas stations in Poland, Czech Republic and Germany but having also some real life refineries (and not just in Poland like Gdańsk or Płock refinery, Orlen also owns refinery in Mažeikiai in BtBS – which is currently listed as fictional IBP company, there are Orlen stations in Lithuania as well). I'd prefer in this case a real company (maybe because it's because I can't think of any beliveable parody of Orlen). On the other hand KGHM and Polska Grupa Górnicza can be parodied as "Polski Koncern Górniczy".

Other non-economy things
Licence plates: I really like that the licence plates are accurate but here are some notes:
- Introduce ABC 12345 and ABC 1234X format for three letter area codes
- Introduce alternative code KK for Kraków and PY for Poznań as they are already in use.
- DO NOT add AB 1XY23 format for cities – most did not reach that format anyway (only Kraków, Poznań and Wrocław) – in fact most cities haven’t even reached AB 1X234 format (Kraków and Poznań did because many cars are leased there, while Warsaw did not because it has many combinations like WA, WB, WD, WE, WF, etc.). Or even if you want to add that code make sure that it will spawn only in these cities, not all cities (also since KK and PY is new it should spawn only with AB 12345 and AB 1234X format) – if you can’t make that sort of conditional statements for a particular cities then it would be better to just stick to AB 12345, AB 1234X and AB 123XY format, because otherwise AI cars will spawn with combinations that are still mostly unused IRL
- dumper trucks and trailers registered in Poland must have (or at least until recently had to, I am not sure if that law still exists) painted plate number on its rear, here are some examples:
https://a.allegroimg.com/original/1e915 ... na-stalowa
https://a.allegroimg.com/original/1e392 ... 4ae27ae4ba
This might be a little detail, but I’d like to have that in the game, even if not in the AI then at least as an option for player owned trailers.

Also Poland recently introduced green plates for electric cars – this is also small detail but since there are already electric cars in game like Tesla it could be introduced

AI VEHICLES
I don’t think that Poland should have some unique cars (maybe Fiat 126p, but even then they’re not as common as they used to be, I’d prefer to see other some other common classic cars like 1980s Fiat Panda in Italy, as unlike Fiats 126p, these are still pretty common).

But Poland should have one unique locomotive - EU07. Maybe also EN57 for local train routes. If I had to pick two most iconic Polish rail vehicles it would be these. I know SCS now likes to alter new AI vehicles due to legal issues but these are +60 years old designs from a communist times that were produced by a company that's now defunct. And also they are so iconic, that any significant alteration would change the look of these vehicles. I know that @TruckerDog really like trains so he probably knows how iconic are these vehicles.

- I've noticed in game files that Aleko is scripted to spawn in Poland
country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.aleko { object: traffic.aleko spawn_ratio: 0.01}
Well, this spawn rate is extremely low, I haven't noticed a single one in Poland despite playing ETS quite a lot (if anything, this spawn rate probably should be something like 0.05 or maybe even 0.1).
And second - Aleko not the good choice for Poland, they were never sold there (and even in the 90s existed only if someone imported them, in 2023 are rarer than the unicorn)
If there is one classic car model from ETS2 that should spawn in Poland it is Lada because unlike Aleko it was sold and also it looks a lot like Polski Fiat 125p, so they can be used as an ersatz of that car, both are still sometimes seen on the roads. I'd say that change can be done even now, no need to wait for a rework. Note - only sedan version of Riva should spawn, as wagon wasn't sold in Poland and (unlike sedans) is very rare.

There should be new AI police type car - Inspekcja Transportu Drogowego using VW Crafters/MAN TGE, it also should do weight checks in random places (AFAIK Poland doesn’t have stationary weight stations) and other vehicle check
https://www.gov.pl/photo/format/4661c97 ... n/1920x810

- Trams:
Poland rework should probably add these 3 trams:
- Konstal 105Na
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstal_105Na
- Pesa Swing - used in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Łódź, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz and Toruń, also in some cities outside Poland like Sofia, Bulgaria or Szeged, Hungary
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pesa_Swing
- Moderus Beta - used in Wrocław, Poznań, Szczecin, Katowice and Elbląg. Should be the pre-facelift version, the newer one is rare
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moderus_B ... y_tramwaj)
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... iowa_2.JPG
I know that Pesa and Moderus are new tram but don't change them too much, at least keep the headlight shape in Moderus, otherwise it will be hard to recognize (IMO the headlights in Moderus are the most recognizable part of the tram)

These three vehicles should cover pretty much all tram systems in Poland, with exception of Olsztyn which was built recently and (unlike other tram systems) needs speical two-way trams. Also Kraków uses some newer trams that were made specifically for that city but it uses older Konstals as well

Konstal 105Na is a tram inspired by Czech ČKD trams but has a somethat different exterior apperance so Tatra trams shouldn't be used as ersatz, especially since 105Na is an iconic tram in Poland - despite being +50 years old construction (basically a modernization of 105N), these trams are still common in most Polish cities, especially in Warsaw, Katowice, Kraków, Łódź, Bydgoszcz and Poznań.
Part of these tram fleets are modernized, but there are still quite a lot of these that aren't modernized (or slightly modernized). So the best option to include them would be to add one 3D model based on unmodernized ones and just to change paintjobs between the cities, in order to have more tram variety (for example Warsaw, Łódż and Bydgoszcz can use both Konstal 105Na and Pesa Swing, while Katowice, Poznań and Wrocław both Moderus Beta and Konstal). Some of Konstals had black square around their headlights - it might be added as a part of the paintjob for some of the cities.
Wrocław also uses a lot of Konstals 105Na but mostly modernized ones and has very few unmodernized, so either add Protram 105NWr as a unique model of 105Na or use only Moderus Beta for Wrocław trams.

General ideas about the map
Poland has terrible road and city density, probably one of the worst (if not THE worst) in the entire ETS2 - therfore this rework must introduce new cities. Here are cities that are IMO obligatory:
- Bydgoszcz – it is one of the largest cities in Poland, at the crossroads of many roads that exist even now in ETS2, yet in the game it is some unmarked village
- Rzeszów – same case as Bydgoszcz - present on the signs but only a scenery
- Kielce – another voivodeship capital that is absent
- Radom – not a voivodeship capital but still a large city (top 15), also just like Bydgoszcz – it is already connected to the various map areas
- Either Zielona Góra or Gorzów Wielkopolski (preferably both of them) – they are both voivodeship capital cities and probably the only large cities in that region, without them map will be too empty
- Toruń – kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship just like lubuskie has two capitals, this is another one. Not as large as Bydgoszcz but still should probably be included (I know it is close, but Bydgoszcz can be moved slightly west, otherwise there will be empty space)
- Częstochowa – it is the largest city that is not voivodeship capital and not the part of urban area of other city (like Gdynia for example). For that reason it should be included

Optional cities but also highly recommended cities:
- Opole – voivodeship captial and +100k city
- Elbląg – while not a voivodeship capital, it is still a +100k city
- Koszalin – yet another +100k city, also located in map area that otherwise will be mostly empty

But Going East is not only outdated because it dates to the ETS2 beginings, the road network is also outdated - A1 is mostly non-existent and there is no A4 east of Kraków, while IRL these highways are 100% complete. Most of the expressways also do not exist.

Poland still has some important roads outside highways and expressways – I'd argue that it probably should be something inbetween Autobahn-heavy German road network and DLCs like BtBS that feature mostly local roads. Therefore the non-highway roads that still exist should be interesting.

On the sidenote – the thing that I (and probably also many other people) associate with old Polish roads are black points. Black points are the signs that were placed in the late 90s and early 2000s on Polish state roads due to accidents. Since then many of these signs were removed (mostly due to the fact that alternative roads like highways and expressways were built) but some still exist to this day. I'd say these signs should be added in these locations, at least due to "nostalgia factor" of an era when Polish road network had barely any highways.

Wikipedia has a mostly okay SVG but the arms of X in the circle are too short, it should look like circle in the SVG file of sign's reverse

I’ve managed to find a map of black points and here are some that still exist on roads that could be included in the game:
Black point on DK91 in Siewierz (between Katowice and Częstochowa)

Black point on DK88 in Gliwice

Black point on DK8 near Wrocław

Black point on DK51 in Dywity (near Olsztyn)

https://www.google.com/maps/@53.8619693 ... 384!8i8192

DK94 Kawice (on road between Wrocław and S3 expressway)
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.2228089 ... 384!8i8192
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.2284657 ... 384!8i8192

DW931 in Wólka Radzymińska:

https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3989531 ... 384!8i8192

DW902 (DTŚ) in Ruda Śląska
https://www.google.com/maps/@50.3004828 ... 384!8i8192

Former DK3 in Deszczno
https://www.google.com/maps/@52.6598903 ... 384!8i8192

Some signs are only one way (like Gliwice, Siewierz and the one on DK8), on the other hand signs in Kawice and Dywity are at the both ends of dangerous road).
I’ve tried to pinpoint all locations from that map, maybe there are some other black points on Polish roads that still exist other than the ones that were marked map but obviously I cannot search every single road in Poland. Also not every black point from that list is on a road that could be included in the game (for example DK3 is now superseded with S3 and almost no one uses former road, I also think that adding DTŚ other than Katowice part is redundant). But the ones that still exist on roads that could be in ETS2 should be included.
I can assure that in 2023 at least signs in Gliwice and Siewierz are still standing (I checked that personally)
IMO at least 3 texture versions of that sign should be made – Gliwice version should be unique (due to the high death toll – it was probably the only sign that was updated, other numbers are fairly low so they can be reused)

Another signage that should be included are river names - that adds quite a lot immersion

Let's see...

1 - Poland should have their own unique shops.

I absolutely agree on this one
https://www.deviantart.com/shadowmari/a ... -124136025

2 - TREE-ET should be IMO replaced with "Tartak"

Not exactly. AFAIK I know that there are some local networks of lumbermills, for example Poltarex in my home town (which is accessible only via ProMods and Poland Rebuilding combined, lol).
Of course, there are also companies, who are deliberately importing wood from outside Poland, like Sodra Wood from Sweden.

My best bet would be to implement something named "SF Lumbermills" as a generic name for them (SF as State Forestry).

3 - Agriculture

OSM is good, but it's limited only to dairies. Better choice would be to name the farms as "AgroGS", since GS means Gminna Spółdzielnia, the most famous of them is "Samopomoc Chłopska" (SCh, hard to translate that... Closest would be "Peasant Self-Help).

4 - Absolutely no Stein Bruch

Orlen in-game? LMAO
Płock would be hard to get around, since Warsaw is by perspective very close. Gdańsk would be a natural replacement with it's refinery. And about parody names - nope, all I could think off are too politically-aligned.
Of course, there was still CPN... And perhaps about Rafineria Gdańska - maybe GdaNaft?

And I would agree with PKG as Stein Bruch replacement.

5 - Other non-economy things

I agree with plate numbering tune-up, but be aware that there are new combinations, like XD for Gdańsk (sic!).
Green plates would be nice for electric and hydrogen-fueled vehicles.

About painting the plate numbers on the rear - it's just a anti-theft measure AFAIK.

6 - AI VEHICLES

I saw some trains along my journeys in Poland, but yeah; trains could get some upgrades. I was thinking about EN57 as well, but I believe that a mix of Pesa Elf and Newag Impuls would be more appropiate, since EN57 are being finally phased out (and some are upgraded to the point of resembling both Elf and Impuls).

And about ITD (Inspekcja Transportu Drogowego) - unlikely for SCS to implement a second "police" within one country (even when Poland Rebuilding team proved it is possible, from my own encounters).

And about unique cars - Perhaps Polonez and Fiat 126p could be done.

7 - Trams:

To be honest, my bets would be:
  • Konstal 105(N);
  • Generic Duwag-like tram;
  • Generic hybrid based on Konstal 805Na, Moderus Alfa + Pesa trams
  • Solaris Tramino and Durmazlar Panorama hybrid in Olsztyn, made as generic as possible.
I'll check your map proposals later.
