Hunting Unlimited Series on platform GOG Galaxy

Please add Hunting Unlimited Series to buy on platform GOG GALAXY

I'm not familiar with GOG Galaxy unfortunately, I did some quick reading and it looks like a neat service, but I doubt they'd push a 13 year old Windows game into the mainstream, most of the games I'm seeing there are 6-9 years old on the older end, and most of them are either popular titles, or AAA titles; frankly, Hunting Unlimited fits neither category unfortunately.

I'm not saying there's *no* chance it happens, but I don't see it being made a priority of from SCS, Steam is by far the biggest service in terms of its userbase and these games run you back $10, if that.

My answer to this is to just use Steam honestly. I understand that's not what you want to hear, but in all reality I don't think you're going to have a choice, unless you want to hunt down a disc-based version.

But you can buy games with series "18 Wheels of Steel" on GOG. On GOG you can buy 80s games.

That's true, but you have to remember, 18 WOS, ATS and ETS are SCS's big dogs, Hunting Unlimited had a fairly large base and such but it was never quite that big of a project. It was more like a side series.

That's like looking at GameFreak and saying "ah, yeah, they have all of these Pokemon games, but where's Pulseman and Mendel Palace?"

Pulseman and Mendel Palace are neat games, but come on now, we know where GameFreak's focus was; same with SCS. Hunting Unlimited was a good series; they never saw it as comparable to their trucking games, not the direction they took it in.

They made less and less additions each installment and then left the rights go to an indie dev for mobile devices based in Miami. They and THQ willingly left this series in the hands of ARB Studios, if that doesn't tell you what people like Pavel Sebor really thought about this series, I don't know what does.

It is a bit strange I suppose but on the other hand, it's barely different from Nintendo nixing Virtual Console when the two alternatives are using the inferior emulation available on the Switch or pirating, neither of which I am a fan of personally.

Honestly, if you can't used disc-based installations, just cave in and use Steam. If Steam is available in your region, I see no reason not to just go that route.

Correct, ValuSoft was at the time part of THQ, but is now a part of Cosmi; THQ themselves was directly involved with Hunting Unlimited, at least, the last couple. The rights could have gone any number of places though, it's a brand and a series that literally has not been touched in 12 years, but has been released in places like steam for example.

I just find it way more likely that SCS themselves orchestrated it, and seeing that the hunting games weren't their most popular, settled with only having them released on Steam.

And again, that puts the earlier trucking games from the 2000s in a weirder spot, since their parent publisher does still technically exist, within a division of Cosmi, but ValuSoft does still technically exist in such a capacity that it could have those games released.

In any case, I find it highly unlikely this is some elaborate scheme to erase Hunting Unlimited from existence, more like they legitimately just don't feel there's an audience for it on GOG like there would be on Steam, potentially.

The way I see it, if they ported a game like Hunting Unlimited over to the Switch, it'd get it into more peoples' hands. It'd be extremely quirky and weird, but people put effort into picking up older styled games, that'd be the way to do it; you can put anything on the Switch Eshop.
