ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
Re: ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
Right. To be fair, if you usually drive safely, and regularly visit a service center for routine fixups (esp. for tires), you might almost never get your truck to the point where it breaks down. Personally, I run an economy mod that reduces income, so I can't afford too many crashes as they make the insurance rating worse. I don't even recall the last time I had a proper crash—not sure if that's cause of my bad memory or cause of the way that mod taught me to drive.
Bottom line, what you're seeing may very well feel like a new system. But it's likely not—it may just mean you're a good driver.

And that’s despite our cunning AI
Though to be fair, until their recent decline in “wits”, damage was a rare thing to me too. It’s possible.

worn tires do not shut down engine nor affect transmission. and never did, AFAIK.
where you got that?

Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.
Re: ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
I've got a 'no damage' mod installed so I take no mechanical or body damage (got tired of AI causing damage to the load or my vehicle unnecessarily). Only thing it doesn't impact is tire wear (which I like). I've driven with 50-something percent wear on my tires and never experienced this. Only thing I get dinged on is "Your vehicle is not in good condition" or whatever it says at weight station check ins. Never had any engine related shut downs due to worn tires.

I’ll do some extensive testing on this when I have time
Re: ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
Only thing that worn tires will impact is quick travel....iirc. It requires tire repair. Once you get that message VTXcnME mentioned.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

but only if you have really worn tires (60%+ IIRC).

Eh, I get the “not in good condition” message already between 10 and 15%. I’ll check what the reason may be as I find it weird.
Re: ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
Ok, I'm totally wrong Max, and I'm embarrassed to no end. And I apologize to everyone. I had a No Damage mod activated and it would not work with 1.46. That's the reason Repairs showed up. I didn't know what happened until I got back into ATS and had damage of 1% show up on the trailer because I'd hit a reflector post. Again, I apologize to everyone. Sometimes you get totally screwed up and don't realize what's really going on. This is with my newest profile seeing I had to start all over again from scratch. I might leave the No Damage mod deactivated and see what happens for a while.
No, the engine caused the shutdown. But a tire was also repaired in the process. I wish I'd gotten photos, but it was unknowingly turned off.
Hey, that's what old age can do to you. Just remember, we don't stay young forever. It can and probably will for everyone.

Re: ATS 1.46 Discussion Thread
I once did a little experiment to see how long I can drive a truck without servicing it before I started having issues. I managed to get around 40,000 miles before my engine started having problems. I did have to service the transmission once at some point before that though because I lost the highest gear. Even though my truck was technically "100% damaged" because of the tire wear, it still ran and drove just fine.
