Time to move to x64 was at least 10 years ago.
I mean ATS doesn't even have x86 exe, it's about time ETS stopped developing it too. According to steam stats, only 0.12% of players use non x64 system. Don't blame the devs for moving with the technology.

I agree. SCS should remove All the 32 bit versions of ETS2. Nobody should be using 32 bit operating systems in 2022.

Yeah.. All required is some more RAM. One can easily get a decent one on aliexpress for about $10 from a popular seller. Had upgraded a relative's PC with ram and cpu from there and after 3 years everything still works fine.
Windows 10, I think one can get for free with only the watermark down right to remind them. I am sure one can get a full version for very cheap too, from cdkeys (?) etc and everything is legit.

more RAM would do nothing for him, he has a 32bit system, 4GB is the limit (more like 3.5) so he would only wast money buying more RAM if he doesnt have the right CPU for it, and all CPUs released in the last decade and a half are already x86_64, so he must have one that is so old it isnt even in the minimum specs for ETS/ATS

I have a 64 bit laptop. Core i3. 8Gb RAM. 2GB of video memory. But for some reason the game doesn't run on the 64 bit version(I don't know why), so I had to play on the 32 bit version. Now I suspect that I won't be able to play at all since the SCS removed the 32 bit version.Because of this, I can't install and play the American Truck Simulator yet, although I have it in the steam

Then the system isn't setup properly. Maybe you installed the x86 version of Windows.

That could be a problem, yes. (I've done that before, thankfully corrected my mistake). 64bit CPU does not guarantee 64bit system, so you may want to check it out in the system properties.

If you roll back to version 1.45, it still won't work now, right?

It might work, that's worth trying.
