North Scandinavia Discussion
Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
Latitudes are properly simulated in the game. Norway is already looking great. Going further north would mean a perfect midnight sun. It would be expanded with seasons, but that’s a long shot anyway.
Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
Seasons, if that someday comes. Then some places will have polar night for months, around december and january.

Well, total darkness there most likely wont be, but no sun.
Nights? if no snowcover, then quite dark.
Midnight Sun?
The nights for Norway, Sweden and Finland, ingame, seem quite accurate.
Well, atleast the last time I checked.

Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
One thing I really hope they include if they rework Scandinavia, is the Oslofjord tunnel crossing the Oslofjord just south of Oslo. We have the road already in ETS2, but it misses an essential part: the big tunnel. It has a 7% incline at most and is closed rather often because of trucks and cars that brakes down (either overheated brakes downhill or overheated engines on the way up). It's an essential part of the road network south of Oslo, as the truckers have 3 options for crossing the fjord:
1. Go around it (through Oslo)
2. Use the tunnel (we have the road in ETS2, but not the tunnel)
3. Use a ferry further south (not included in ETS2)
Wikipedia claims it's closed for all heavy traffic, but it's not anymore.

Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
Who knows? It may cover two countries, it may cover 3. We've got nothing other than few photos showing more or less where the research team was, which may or may not be hinting at what to expect. Until we get an official announcement, hopefully later this year, there's no way to tell.

Hopefully they will announce it soon

No earlier than around WB release. Which looks like it's taking a while already.

Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
The teasers in the Xmas stream included an image near the Norwegian-Finnish border, but other than that I think the evidence points towards just being Norway and Sweden. We will have to wait and see, I am only 5% confident probably not even that lol

Re: North Scandinavia Discussion
I'm counting on it being mostly only the rest of Sweden and Norway.
But if SCS go for a mega map again, then, it could be the rest of Norway, Sweden and Finland.
With road to Murmansk being in limbo.
Upside with N+S+F, would be that the cities would not be mega big.
But there would be quite a bit of smaller cities, towns and villages.
And norwegian roads, especially coastal roads and mountain roads, ain't straight.
I think that Norway, would be the most time consuming, if counting roads / kilometer.
