The 389x is just a special edition to the current 389. It's not really a new model. The 389x could easily be part of the the standard 389 rebuild.

Well, technically, the new Volvo FH they are making for ETS2 is just a minor facelift of the old one. There really was no need to build it from scratch. But I guess enough rambling from a certain tester, combined with some other feedback was enough to build it from scratch.
So even though 389X is just a digidash and single piece windshield over the OG, I'd still say there's a chance for it to be scratch made.
The smallest details always make the biggest difference.

The thing with the Volvo is that the old model is bad so I think they are reworking the old model and meanwhile adding the facelift for the new one. So maybe, depending on how bad they think the 389 is, it's going to be just some extra options or a whole new model.

According to my conclusion, 389 will be made from scratch. What we saw on the stream is just what was available for scanning. The 389x is just a different grille and a black/white interior. A digital dashboard is already installed on all versions of 389. Analog dash ones are in the past.

Leaving two 389s in the game is stupid. Oh look, we have two 389s! One is ugly and the other is beautiful! The choice is yours! LOL

They could rework the old P389 and take it back in time some turn it to a P379...? :D That would be nifty but yes I truly want the P389X as it's own brand new model, the in game P389 is in need of some major TLC and face lift it's not even a CAD drawing? So I hear? It's also shorter than every single truck in game so it would be a massive overhaul if not a new model.

I will keep pushing and prodding about a P389X as it's own model with ALL the original goodies from the old P389 I.E Non digital dash, old steering wheel, similar to what Freightliner has.

As it stands now I recall Pavel mentioning on X-Mas stream it's hard to bring tuning packs and other stuff to a truck that is badly modeled as nothing will fit correctly.. and Jerry rigging isn't ideal.

If the FH16 2020 facelift is going to be an update to the current FH16, however they are rebuilding the entire truck from scratch because of this, I think the same should be done on the 389 when the 389X comes along.

I have no objections if they decide to redo any or all of the old models (prior to 2019), but I still think the 579 is the worst of the bunch. That being said, I could see both of the iconic classics being redone or retouched first before dealing with the old aerodynamic models, if at all.

Me personally speaking, there is no new W900 or new 389. The W990 and the 589 are not the same same trim. So redoing the W900 and 389 makes sense to me. When it comes to the 579 and the T680, they do have new gens. So make those from scratch hands down, do those first before attempting the old gen 579/T680, if at all.
