@truckermudgeon This is quite impressive! Are you planning on making a similar map for ETS2 as well?

Thanks, @krmarci! I don't have plans to do the same for ETS2 at the moment... but I'll eventually get around to releasing the code I used to build the map, so anyone should be able to make an ETS2 version :)

Just pushed an update for the Kansas DLC.
in terms of next steps: I'll take a break from looks/cosmetics
I've underestimated how fun it is to make the map look nicer... many road junctions have been improved, and you can now see the ocean :)

I’m so happy you’ve kept this going. I use it daily when planning routes for dispatching my drivers at my vtc. It’s awesome
Sorry for my english, I'm american.

Heh, turns out you beat me to it when pushing the updates yesterday. Nice! :) I really like that water bodies and national borders are visible now. Those were some of the things I have on my list...

I received ETS2 as a Christmas gift, so I went ahead and updated the map with ETS2 data :D

As an American who almost exclusively plays ATS, the ETS2 data will most likely not be receiving as much detailed work as the ATS data (e.g., I haven't spent any time tweaking the land data to match the game, I haven't added country borders, etc). But It's still cool to see both sets of data on one map.

Welp, 10 months and many unexpected "next thing"s later, I've finally started work on that routing part :):
The Routes Demo is a toy page that lets you pick a starting company and an eligible ending company (based on the cargo exported from the starting company and the cargo imported from the ending company). The page will show a "shortest" route in red, and a "prefer smaller roads" route in green. Currently, the routing code doesn't take a lot of things into account, so the routes it calculates probably won't match up with what you'd see in the game. But it's good enough for a demo

I expect that all my future work related to routing (including showing turn-by-turn directions with lane guidance) will require a database, since it'd be a bit painful to do everything on the client. So this is probably as far as I'll take the Routes Demo page 😅

Very cool!

I tested it with I-10 (the game tells you to route around San Antonio instead of taking I-10 all the way), and your guidance matches it. That's only a 12 minute difference in-game IIRC so your method of importing the map data must be pretty darn accurate to come to the same conclusion.

When you say "mobile route advisor with lane guidance' Are you making a old style GPS type thing or like MapQuest from the early 70s
