Re: [WIP] A Slippy Map for ATS
Don't forget the really big one in Texas! I forget the name of it in-game, but it's basically a Buc-ee's if you're familiar with those.

@San_Sany4 thanks for those pointers! Especially about the fuel station in Glendive... maybe there's a bit flag or something for the map items representing pumps. I'll be taking a look today (I don't want to lead users of my Navigator project to fuel stations they can't use
)
@Maverick89 do you happen to know where in ATS this big faux Buc-ee's is? I tried comparing https://brilliantmaps.com/us-locations/ ... locations/ to my map, and found some candidates, but was hoping to save time and not scour the map editor for them

^ I think it's this place outside San Antonio: truckermudgeon.github.io/?mlat=29.74&mlon=-98.07
Called "Henry's Ranch" in the game (as of a year ago, haven't played since then).

Thanks @nautofon , that might be it
It's yet another place where services aren't shown in the game map, but they're shown in my map because I'm missing something
. Hoping I get to the bottom of this soon.

A bit off subject here, but are you also planning on doing the exit numbers in ETS2 as well? Just a bit curious.

If it's map-related, it's never off subject
I would really love to add exit numbers in ETS2, but I don't really play the game (I just own a copy for map-making purposes). I'm also not familiar with how exit signs look across all the different European countries.
For ATS, I look for signs that are close to prefabs that have an intersection that looks like a slight-right, contain the word "Exit", a number, and optionally a letter. If there's a similar way to detect ETS2 exit signs consistently, then I'll add them

Re: [WIP] A Slippy Map for ATS
About the fuel stations showing up when they shouldn't: I'm pretty sure I've found the solution, thanks to everyone's examples (TL;DR: looks like there is indeed a Service item bitflag that controls when the green fuel icon shows up in the UI map).
I'm going to finish some other work-in-progress I have at the moment, and then I'll fix those icons. Will update this thread when it's done.
Thanks again, all, for pointing this out and for those map pointers!

I can't be thankful enough for all of your work on this map, i can't believe how often i actually use it.
The other day i was thinking about something, would it even be possible to have an option for "different versions" of the map? Like, after SCS does a map rework, having something to switch between pre-rework and post-rework, but no idea if that's too much work for something not many people might use.

Re: [WIP] A Slippy Map for ATS
^ Not a bad idea! Don't know about building in an option to switch back and forth within the demo map app. But it'd definitely be doable to keep old versions available at different URLs:
Something like that probably wouldn't require much effort at all. I mean, the data is all still there in the truckermudgeon.github.io commit history. I think one would only need to check out the correct revisions, then push each of them to a fresh repository set up for GH Pages.
Having the 1.49 and 1.53 maps more readily available might perhaps even help me with my seemingly futile efforts to regain my interest in playing the game. Hmm...
Code: Select all
truckermudgeon.github.io/1.59
truckermudgeon.github.io/1.58
truckermudgeon.github.io/1.57
...

Re: [WIP] A Slippy Map for ATS
Agreed that it wouldn't be hard to add an option to switch between data sets
. I'll start with 1.58 and 1.59 for now (when I get around to updating my parser to support the new map format introduced in 1.59). Coming Soon™!
. I ended up moving the .pmtiles files away from github around June 2025 because of a hosting bug on their side. But it looks like that bug was fixed back in March of this year, so I can start versioning the pmtiles again.
It mostly isthe data is all still there in the truckermudgeon.github.io commit history
