OS: Steam Deck
Game version: 1.46.4.1s (64-bit)
Reproducibility: always
Game log: https://pastebin.com/xNrPNZcS
Description:
the game worked perfectly until I purchased and installed the Texas DLC yesterday. After installing every time I click on a save to load, the game will freeze completely, and I’ll have to close it.
I have NEVER used mods, and it happens with brand new profiles, the second the DLC is turned on. Every other piece of DLC works without issue.
I even completely deleted my profiles and saves in case they were the issue.
If I turn off the dlc, I can then load any saves aside from the ones created while using the dlc (as I would expect)
Then the game runs smoothly. But the second I turn the Texas DLC back on, the issue returns..
To clarify, when opening the game, it will load into the newest save and I can play from there. But if I go to the menu, and click to load any file, (even the one it just auto loaded) then the game will freeze and I will have to close it down, this happens for manual and auto saves.
I am playing on Steam Deck, updated to the current version

Did you make sure to validate the game files through Steam?

I reserve the right to be 100% wrong.
The angels cried and crooned, they offered me their vision of ghosts in every wall
I declined and held the line and watched the angels fall.

Re: TEXAS DLC causing freeze crash when loading save
I may have somehow fixed it… I transferred the saves to my PC via the cloud. Then booted it all up on my PC, then loaded my save.. after clicking to load it the game froze as on my steam deck..
Instead of closing the game down, I left it for like an hour.. then when I came back, I had loaded into the game.. I made a new save, then tried loading that.. it loaded instantly…
So I transferred that save to my steam deck and boom, it worked.

For reference same issue on PC has been reported. If happens again consider the workaround of forcing load screen to appear on start.

You my good sir, are a legend, and I love you
After reading through that previous post, that is exactly what was happening.. but I’m completely new to Steam, (despite first signing up years ago, I didn’t begin gaming on Steam until last week when I got my steam deck)
So figuring out how to explain the issue was very difficult. Most just assumed I was using mods. I can’t even figure out how to keep the base game running, I dare not touch any mods.
But I managed to do the workaround you suggested and it works beautifully. I can just choose to load the save directly from the main launchpad..
First load after opening the game takes a little longer because it says there has been a content change, but following that every other load from the launchpad is smooth as butter.
I really appreciate it, as someone who is used to console gaming this whole thing was so overwhelming..
Hopefully it’s something that can be fixed in the future. But at least for now I can actually play..
Thank you again
