You have to also consider assets and how far back off roads they have to map to even make US-20 and I-80 feel great. I-88 compromises all that perhaps. It doesn't really save too much time that I-80 pulls off. We still need to feel space though. US-20 and I-80 can spread out without I-88.

I think you can fit I-88 and I’d like to see them try :)

I would rather the space be used for a local road like US-34 and potentially the Tri-State Tollway. I-88 simply mirrors I-80 and is completely unnecessary given the scale of the game (in the same way that most beltways are unnecessary). I-88 doesn't even reach downtown Chicago so ending it there would be unrealistic. Hopefully what appears to be the Circle Interchange in the leaked map is where I-290 meets the Kennedy Expressway and I-290 heads towards the (yet to be built in the game) Hillside Strangler where we can get to the Tri-State Tollway and ORD.

^Agreed. I'd definitely rather have a better balance of interstates and US roads / State roads. I too would take US-34 over I-88 for the exact same reasons you stated no to I-88. US and state road will be harder to come by as states get smaller and more interstates density litters the Eastern landscapes. Its really not necessary if we have I-80 imo. The further we go East, there will be many interstates that don't make the cut due to space. Illinois is the first to date really. One thing for sure is that as we go East, things can't feel stacked on top of each other just to get density. We always have to have a sense of distance and the only way to get that is to eliminate what we can get by without.

@TruckingWolfUSA What's to say they didn't try already to get I-88 in? None of us are sitting behind mappers to confirm they didn't try. If its not there, that doesn't confirm that they didn't try. Just because we might sketch this or that on our own, it doesn't mean they can get things to work. Its possible it just wasn't planned just like its possible they tried and saw that it won't work.

I'll never say no to more roads, interstate or US route. Given how interstate dense the eastern portion of the country is going to get though, I definitely prefer local roads when we can get them.

@oldmanclippy You were right about IL-251 one of the pictures is indeed on that highway. Good catch :). Pity there are no pictures on the I-39 or the I-39/I-90 junction. But it's still early in development.
