Hi Smarty, I LOVE this truck but I was wondering about the thicker rubber gaskets that some of the older Peterbilt models had. I hope maybe one day it will be added but I don't want you to feel like you have to add it right now.

Hi All,

Big thanks to @Smarty , the truck is truly amazing!!!

Just one question, am I the only one getting this misalignment of the airbox hose and the side opening of the bonnet when using the CAT style air cleaner?

Thanks

There's nothing to fix. That's meant to replicate the truck originally used (and destroyed) in the movie Duel.

silly question — is this a short or long hood version? eg. would a 12-71 fit in the truck as modeled?

No such thing as a silly question.

Short answer, not as modeled, no.

Long answer, I believe Peterbilt only had one hood length for the 351. Any 351 with a "long hood" you see online is modified and considered aftermarket. The only exception would be the NASA Peterbilt 351's, which were custom built and extensively modified to be 6x6 (All wheel drive essentially) and powered by the 12v71 Detroit. I believe those 351's had a longer hood to accommodate the added transfer case, and larger engine.

I believe with the arrival of the 359, Peterbilt eventually had three options for hood length, which was measured using the "bumper back of cab" method. These lengths were, 113 inches, 119 inches, and 127 inches.

When Peterbilt discontinued the 359 and started building the legendary 379, the available hood lengths were 119 inches and 127 inches.
