[REL] Service at Companies | ATS v1.60

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

[REL] Service at Companies | ATS v1.60

This mod adds service points to all companies that offer or accept oversized loads.

I created this mod to be able to add oversize signs and flags to my truck and trailer when loading oversized cargo.
In reality, trucks can't have oversize signage unless they're hauling oversized cargo. Going to a truck stop or repair shop, which is often out of your way, just to attach or detach the signs and flags just didn't feel right.
That's why I've added service points directly to the companies so you can add or remove oversize signage when you load or unload oversized freight.

You could say that this could be abused to repair the truck directly at companies, which is unrealistic, but it's up to you if you want to abuse it or not.
With the introduction of the new repair system in v1.49, you could carry out some minor repairs yourself outside a shop, which would be somewhat realistic.

This mod is designed for SCS cargo only (including all cargo DLC). When using any cargo mod, you may encounter companies that offer oversized cargo but don't have a service point.
Some SCS cargos don't have proper oversize signage, even though they would need them in the real world. I have created a mod that adds the proper signage to these cargos in the cargo market. You can find it on the Steam Workshop.
With the Kansas DLC, new industrial pallets have been added to a lot of companies where they don't make sense. So I didn't include them in my considerations. I made a small mod that removes most of the industrial pallets from companies where they don't make sense. You can find it below.

All map DLCs (up to and including Louisiana) have been mapped. No map DLCs are required to run this mod (at least that's what my limit testing showed. But there might be problems if not all map DLCs are present).

Update v1.12:
— Update for ATS v1.60.

Update v1.11:
— Update for ATS v1.59.
— Added Illinois companies.
— Removed service point at garages (currently I have no working method to keep the fuel station at the new garages)

Update v1.10:
— Update for ATS v1.58.
— Added Route 66 rework companies.
— Added service point to new garage.

Update v1.9:
— Update for ATS v1.57.
— Added Louisiana companies.

Update v1.8:
— Update for ATS v1.56.

Update v1.7:
— Update for ATS v1.55.
— Added Iowa companies.

Update v1.6:
— Update for ATS v1.54.
— Added Missouri companies.

Update v1.5:
— Update for ATS v1.53.
— Added remaining California rework companies.

Update v1.4:
— Mapped all prefabs with dynamic loading.
— Added support for Reforma Sierra Nevada again.

Update v1.3.1:
— Update for ATS v1.52.

Update v1.3:
— Update for ATS v1.51.
— Added Arkansas companies.

Update v1.2.1:
— Moved the service point at garages to avoid potential collisions.

Update v1.2:
— Update for ATS v1.50.
— Added Nebraska companies.
— Added California rework companies.

Update v1.1:
— Added service points to garages.

Compatibility:
This mod is compatible with all map mods as long as you place this mod underneath them. If another map mod overwrites any of the SCS map sectors, any service points mapped by this mod will disappear.
Company prefabs in other map mods will not have service points, even if they are the same as in the base map. This is due to an SCS limitation where if you change the locators of a prefab, the entire map must be recalculated to reflect the change.
For some of the more popular map mods, I have created compatibility patches that add service points to their sectors and resolve conflicts with this mod. You can find them below. Please note that these patches only add service points to the SCS prefabs used in these map mods. There is no guarantee that all companies with oversized cargo are mapped in these mods.

Known issues:
  • The map now has a lot of repair icons. Unfortunately, I cannot hide them from the map due to their inclusion in the company prefabs. I have included a map definition file that removes the service icons from the two outermost views of the map in the GPS. If you use a mod that changes the GPS (for example, to a Google Maps color scheme), my changes will be overwritten. In this case, you would have to use the map_data file from the other mod and change the map_items_flags to the ones from this mod.
  • When fast traveling or getting towed, you may now spawn at companies instead of truck stops or repair shops. That's because SCS simply uses the nearest available service point to teleport the player to. Unfortunately, I can't change this behavior.
  • There may be some errors in the log (“<ERROR> Company item without company assignment!”). They are caused by the yet-to-be-released Illinois DLC, because some sectors for that DLC are already in the game. When recomputing the prefabs for this mod, some of these sectors get included and thus cause the errors. However, these errors can be safely ignored.
  • Service points may appear randomly on roads in Texas. This is because when SCS hides certain prefabs, they can only hide what they know, so my added service points are left there.
If you find any companies where a service point is missing and oversized loads are available, the service point is inaccessible, or have any other problems, please let me know.

Thank you! This is a great idea. We always carried our own signs and flags. The fact that we have to purchase these items every time we pickup an oversize load is ridiculous as it is. At least with this we won't have to find a garage

A very nice mod, even if I've been hoping for an SCS solution (allowing the F7 menu to be used to attach signs, like how we can change trailer configs) because it would have so many other uses. (Like being able to add loads to rigid flatbeds in ETS2...)

Thank you! I definitely felt the same way. I could also lower the price of the flags and signs, but so far I haven't looked into that because I felt it wasn't too expensive with what the oversized loads are paying. Plus, you get some money back anyway when you take them off.

Thank you! I'm still hoping that SCS will just add an option to the F7 menu, because that would make things a lot easier.

For anyone who is using the Reforma Sierra Nevada Compatibility Patch, please download the newest version! There was a bug in this patch that caused the game to crash.

If anyone else experiences crashes when using this mod or any of the patches, please send me the last two lines of the log file.
The error in question will look like this:
01:58:28.016 : <ERROR> Item duplication detected! 0x791CDAE70080140 <- (this number is important)
01:58:28.016 : <ERROR> d:\buildbot\slaves\win_slave\final_build_ats_..._windows_bin_steam_x64\build\prism\eurotrucks\game\management\sector_task.cpp(49): ?execute@sector_load_task_t@prism@@UEAAXXZ: Failed to merge new sector data!.

So this is completely off topic, and likely not the appropriate place, but it is at least semi-relevant. Any chance you'd want to take up the task of making a mod that adds Service points at large garages (only large like they did fuel points) at some point? :D

I would guess the easier way would be similar to what you did with companies, perhaps inside the gate a bit to the right.

A much more difficult (but also cooler ;)) way would be to turn Bay/Door 1 into a dedicated repair/service bay with animated door(s), I forgot if there's both front and rear doors or just front with the point inside. Much more difficult and likely not practical. But maybe the easier way might be doable..?

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I wanted to check out the garages first.
As you have correctly guessed, adding a service point to the garage is very easy. Making one of the additional doors accessible is a bit harder, as you would have to change the model. But my Blender skills aren't good enough yet to do this properly.
The thing is, I don't really want to make another mod and have to support it just for such a small change. Since garages are located in most cities, many sectors would be changed and conflicts with other mods are very likely. But if you like, I could add service points to the garages as part of this mod in my next update. This would also fit in quite well with the theme of the mod.

No worries on any delay. I for one, and I know others, have always thought it a bit weird we couldn't repair at our large garages. But I also get you not wanting to have another mod to have to support. Although I'm sure it would probably be a popular standalone mod. :D

I'd be all for adding it in with this mod. My only other thought on it, is that it would add yet another service point to a lot of cities.  But I'd still be all for it. Even if I don't visit my garage(s) very often. Even less now that I can do like my hired drivers and "remote" attach/swap a trailer if I want. :) (And no, not console.)
