Here's an odd one for ya

As I've written elsewhere earlier, when I set up my G27 on my quirky laptop, it worked except the six red buttons on the wheel were only working as the one button on each side. I was going to try to fix it with Logitech Profiler (Logitech Gaming Software), but has been rendered obsolete and no longer available to download from most websites, and whatever Logitech replaced it with (Ghub?) doesn't support it. So I figured I was stuck with it the way it is and forgot about it.

Later when I was looking for something else I found a copy of Logitech Gaming Software 5.10.127 on one of my USB drives. I set Compatibility Mode for Windows 7 and it seemed to install fine. When I ran the program, it detected my G27 as a Driving Force GT. Since the buttons aren't the same as the wheels are very different I just uninstalled it thinking there was no need to keep it. When I ran ETS2 later the G27 had been dropped from settings. So I added it back in, but to my surprise, all six buttons now work, and the quarter turn of play in the wheel is gone, having been reset to 900°. I usually set it 335° as I don't particularly like 900°, but with no way to change it I was stuck with whatever setting it defaulted to when I first set it up. After this, it seemed as if the wheel was like my car, just a little stiffer. But I can live with it. This the latest quirk on this laptop that I can't explain, but at least it was in my favor this time.
