Boy was I wrong, only 1 job leaving the Port of Houston. It continues our zig-zag across Texas as we deliver frozen fruits from Houston to Del Rio, TX. Not much better than driving west across the Lone Star State as the sun rises behind you. Maybe driving east as the sun sets behind you? Either one is amazing!!

Personal Photo Op: Tribute to Freedom - Lackland AFB San Antonio, TX; corner of US90 & Military Dr
“Tribute to Freedom” by San Antonio artist George Schroeder, in collaboration with local landscape architect Larry Hicks, is comprised of five metal forms representing the five branches of the United States Armed Forces: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy. The 75-foot-tall aluminum and steel artwork includes a central obelisk, which is modeled after the Washington monument. The other four figures surround the central obelisk, representing the military’s protection of the United States.
Once we arrive in Del Rio, TX I think it's time to update the paint scheme, let's see what the Wheel picks for us and where we are headed next!!

TRUCK TALK
Directly across the street from C.H. Robinson in Del Rio, TX is a Truck Repair Shop. What better time to get a new paint scheme and to go over what I drive.
The Random Wheel landed me on the Philadelphia Phillies, being a Braves fan this was a tough one - but we live and die by the Randomness. So I turned a negative into something more positive and made a Retro 1980's Phillies truck
As I mentioned earlier, I drive a Western Star 49X, I drove all kinds of trucks in the Quick Job market and I liked this one the best.
Chassis - Medium 6x4 SFA 250G
Engine - Cummins X15 Performance 605
Transmission - Eaton UltraShift FO-22E318B-VXPR
Interior is pretty simple, just my Death Star and a Pirate air freshener

North to Idaho
While it's fun to zig-zag through Texas and make some quick deliveries, it's also nice when RNG chooses a delivery that allows me to spread my wings a little. Picked up Anhydrous Ammonia from C.H. Robinson in Del Rio, TX and headed North to UOP in Pocatello, ID. Also nice when your fleet brings in $250k+ while you're on the road!! Driving in ATS allows me to do the same when I'm commuting to work or mowing the lawn.....think. Some changes might be coming to the write-ups, or maybe not. Not only am I a procrastinator, I have a tough time making decisions (as noted before).

ATS Video- Historic Monument of Lincoln (NM)
Stumbled across this one by accident. GPS had us going through Roswell and that can be a bit tedious because of the line of stop lights going through the heart of town, so I went West on 380/70 and instead of taking 70 back North around Roswell, we ended up taking 380 all the way to I-25 and then north to Socorro.
Photo Op 1 - Paisano Pete - Welcome to Fort Stockton Sign THERE’S A REALLY BIG ROADRUNNER in Texas. His name is Paisano Pete, and he wants to welcome you to the town of Fort Stockton (he is their mascot, after all). Paisano Pete, one of the many off-beat roadside attractions that make road trips so great, has been a fixture in this West Texas town since 1980.
Measuring 11 feet tall and 22 feet long, Pete was the idea of then-mayor Gene Cummings, who thought that the statute would be right at home in the community—the bird is, after all, a common sight in the area, and who wouldn’t love being the home to (what was then) the world’s largest roadrunner.
Photo Op 2 - The West of the Pecos Museum - Pecos, TX
The museum consists of the "Number 11" Saloon, built in 1896, and the Orient Hotel, built in 1904, which offers 3 full floors with more than 50 rooms of exhibits and activities. Exhibits include pioneer and Indian artifacts, a rodeo & ranching collection, railroad memorabilia, African-American and Mexican- American heritage displays, replicated school rooms , doctor’s offices, and parlors, and much more. Outdoor exhibits include Centennial Park, Clay Allison’s Grave, Judge Roy Bean’s Courthouse and Saloon Replica, Mesquite House, Frying Pan Ranch Chuckwagon, Orient Hotel, and Historical Markers.
As we arrived in Pocatello, we were reminded it is the home of Idaho State University Funny thing is, stopped in Del Rio for some repairs and got new tires and had to stop twice for fuel on this run? I wasn't low or anything like that (half-tank), but it was odd. Only thing weirder was were we stopped. Just NW of Moab, near the junction of I-70 is Uncle Bob's Stop & Go, which (no offense to the proprietor) has a real 'last place they were seen alive' feel to it.

Hay Hay What Can I Do?
Quick stay in Pocatello, ID headed from UOP over to ADM to pick up a load of Hay and headed up to Colville, WA.
Based on my research (aka Google Maps) I think this is the steeple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Victory Ave in Chubbock, ID. Big surprise face, I decided against the format change. I was going to bobtail around towns and showcase non ATS landmarks, but I found there is already a website that has that and it would interfere with my mileage and gas expenses. So I will just report on job and if I do run across anything I find neat (non-ATS like Churches, Schools, Road Runners) I will mention it.

I Can't Drive 55......
I spoke earlier of my distaste for the 55MPH speed limit on the Interstates of California. Still don't like it, but Oregon and Washington interstate speed limits are 60MPH (usuallly), so what's 5MPH? An eternity it seems like sometimes. But there is a positive in everything and the views of Northern California are definitely a big positive!! Picked up a Crawler Tractor in Colville from DFA and headed S/SW to the Bay Area. Based on my limited cartography skills (and the fact the ATS video shows the Richmond Bridge) we aren't in Oakland as much as we dropped off northwest of the city at the Chevron Long Wharf at Port Richmond. I need to get over that bridge and see if San Quentin is in the game. That would fall under the purview of my other fascination, prison architecture/layout, I'm weird. Outside of the Spokane Convention Center. Dance of the Redband is
representative of the endangered Redband Trout which lives in
the Spokane River. The sculpture is constructed of steel with
copper “scales” coated with a fired enamel surface. The
sculpture is made of a material designed to reflect the light from
the timed illumination system at its base

Some days all I want to do is drive and write, other days I just want to drive. Honestly, it was a struggle to finish this last haul. Is it time to hang up the keys? Maybe I'm driving too much? Who knows.
I will say this, I am in my late-40's and I have been playing video games since the Commodore 64 days/Pong era. ATS is the ONLY game I have ever played where I have nothing but positive things to say about it. I basically stumbled across it one day on Steam, got the Demo and drove that for about 30 seconds before I bought the game itself. Immediately downloaded all the states available, then got Kansas when it came out. All of that was right before Thanksgiving. It was such a relaxing way to spend time. Just cruising the roads of the Western US, generating CPU money, and discovering cities and towns along the way. It's still amazing to me and each time I play it I found a new building, or see a sunset/sunrise from an angle I hadn't before. But, like so many other things, if you constantly play it, it gets tedious - and I hate that. We will see what the future holds for me and YRH.
