[1.50 EB] Shadow acne, pancaking, peter panning, flickering

Since 1.50 update, there are a lot of the problems with shadows. I have collected some screenshots to demonstrate this issue.

1. Shadow Acne, pancaking and flickering

Admittedly I don't know how you could solve this problem, but a lot of games somewhat manage to fix it, the issue is - I don't know how. I want to report it anyway, because this issue was much less visible in 1.49.

Here are some examples:

Again, this issue was much less persistent in 1.49, and wasn't as visible as it is now. It's actually distracting. This also happens with shadows casted from power-lines, which also was less of an issue before.

2. Peter panning.

This means that some objects are not properly connected to the ground using real-time shadows. Another difficult thing to fix, and yet another thing that was a little less obvious in 1.49.

On above screenshots notice one more issue: low cascade drawing distance as well from the interior view. When we drive from first person interior view, shadow cascading distance (the visible line where shadows blur in front of truck), is much shorter than in 3rd person, which I find odd. Overall in 1st person, shadow quality significantly drops in the outside world.

The only solution I can think of is introducing PCSS by Nvidia and PCF filter (uniform soft-shadows). I think perhaps adding Screen Space Shadows could also resolve this issue (with bilateral filtering)

I am not sure how viable it is, but what I can say for sure is that I had same exact problems with shadows in Unity engine (yes I know Prism is a different engine but issues are all the same) and using one asset that introduces PCSS has improved and fixed above problems tenfold.

In the doc it states that it's from area lights, but I know for a fact (from using Unity) that it can be applied to directional (sun) shadows which much like in ETS2/ATS is main light source and shadow provider.

Gamelog (I have two profiles, this was tested on clean, no mods profile) attached.
