The reason is that when you share a creation there are people who take those creations and they get lost on other WEB sites where the author or modeler does not appear.

You do realise the people who steal em all know how to fix them right? It doesn't protect your work in any way and hasn't for years. As a Workshop Moderator I have seen the content of "protected mods" stolen and reuploaded on Workshop. Damaging the file is nothing more than a placebo for the mod author and nothing more.

Ironically the workshop not allowing damaged files has significantly slowed the pace of uploads of stolen content as they used to do the same thing in the hopes it would stop them being banned.

It has been fun to watch. Almost need a lawn chair and a cooler of cold ones. Ultimately one must decide if their work being taken by others is a deal breaker or not. If not, just press on. If so, the only viable solution is to quit. Sad, but that's where a lot of mod makers have gone. Oh, and disinterest lol.
