I'm thinking about upgrading my old PC - for SCS games only - (AMD FX-8370, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM), what should I choose to play freely at 60 fps FHD with max settings? Setups with Core i3 (12th gen and up) and RTX 3050 are on my mind but I'm afraid that might be not enough... Maybe some of you have similar experience? Thanks in advance!

The CPU won’t be too bad but avoid the 3050. It’s a terrible GPU at the very least a 3060. Your current 1060 is probably better than a 3050…

Hello all!
I am in a very similar situation. I am considering buying a second hand PC just to run ETS 2. I would like to play on high ISH settings with a smooth frame rate. I have come across a gaming pc setup that is fairly local to me...please could you guys have a look at the specs and consider for me if it is value for money or not. I am new to this, I have seen the minimum requirements and recommended requirements for the game and it seems to meet those although with all the mods now available it is a minefield for the inexperienced.

The specs are as follows: Intel Core i5 11400F 4.4Ghz • Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB GDDR5 • 16GB RAM 3200MHz DDR4 • 1TB NVME SSD • 500W PSU Bronze Rated • CiT Flash Black RGB Gaming PC Case • Windows 11

Acer VG240Y monitor, gaming keyboard and mouse included.

Hello Curtis!

I'm not a huge expert but a little tip from me.. As far as I have found out the RTX 3050 is a mostly useless GPU which is barely any better than the old GTX 1060 for example. Given this, an option of the GTX 2060 (or even 1660) would be a better decision for your future build.

If you want some precise numbers - RTX 3050 6 GB is better than GTX 1060 by just 4%. This way the GTX 1660 is already better than the 3050 (by 9.6% by the way).

And of course the 3060 would be a veeeeeery good option for you if it will be available for your budget.

This might come in useful for some of you

My PC specs are:
- 8GB RAM DDR3
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
- an integrated, 2GB GPU
- some two standard 256GB and 500GB HDD

..and with standard stuff like ProMods, Poland Rebuilding, ROEX, RusMap, and things like real companies, new headlights, new GPS, late autumn mod, traffic mod, etc., forget about playing ETS2 on anything above low settings on it
I play on a 1200x800 resolution, and almost all options set to low (or disabled where possible), and it's still got FPS drops in more packed (be it with objects and/or vehicles) areas

Now here's another thing: I play the version 1.40... (simply because I love the hands on steering wheel mod and further updates don't allow it)
Used to play 1.46 which still ran decently (with the above settings obviously), but 1.49 was already unplayable with all these mods... newer versions I didn't even test (and don't intend to )

EDIT: any ideas on how to boost the performance btw.? I know I won't get ultra from that, but at least medium (or something close to medium) would do...

You're below minimum requirements (seriously that CPU is about as old as the game itself). If you want better performance, it's time to upgrade. About time.

Absolutly not. For future (if you didn't planned to play more demading games any gpu below 8gb vram is not good.
For the listed cpu, i5 11 gen the minimum recomendation would be rtx 3060 or rx 6600. I have rtx 3060 and game runs on 300% scaling, disable SSAO, rest of settings for high with around 90fps(with nvidia filters that takes around 10fps) And my vram in many places go to 7GB.
Sometimes better to take time and get more money instead of buying some gpu that will not run the game smoothly and its 5 years old

RTX 3060 is definitely a good thing, no doubt, but.. in shops in my hometown for example it costs more than my salary, and 3050 is almost two (!) times cheaper.

That's the only reason I'm talking about those more primitive variants

But since 3060 is available for your pocket - you can always get it and be happy for the next range of years.
