It's probably going to be more chapters and scenarios for the Basics section of Driving Academy if I had to guess.

The Proficiency section (and the third unnamed box) are the ones that interest me the most.

I'm new to this section of the forum and haven't had time to read everything so far, but something that would be very interesting is to use Driving Academy to attach past SCS games to it.

For example, take what we have today 'out of date' from Truck & Trailers and STDS, improve it to today's quality standards and put it all in the Driving Academy. It would be very cool and interesting if we could use a 'multiplayer' mode (convoy perhaps?) in this Driving Academy tool so that we could do The Proficiency section (and the third unnamed box) scenarios together with friends, with challenging things and break time records. That would be really cool.

It would break up the routine that veterans may already be tired of, of just customizing their truck, picking up a job of empty pallets and driving from point A to point B for long hours. This is relaxing and very cool, but something challenging attached to the Driving Academy to do with friends would be very interesting and perhaps even a leap forward in the current gameplay.

I found out about this as I tried to switch into sequential mode in-truck using the assigned key. That didn't work, scenarios solved using that method don't count towards the achievement (Why?). But when shifting is set to sequential in the controller options, you can switch to automatic mode in-truck while doing a scenario.
There is more honest way (if you don't want to go straight to jail :D): use sequential shifting with smart shifting enabled: most of the scenarios do not involve a lot of shifting (you can do them using lower gears), so your experience will be pretty close to real automatic.

Just a word of advice for anyone who completed Chapter 1 of the Driving Academy before 1.54 and the two rewards this update added are still locked – what worked for me is exiting out into the Title Screen, loading into the Driving Academy menu (I even clicked Play Intro but that's likely unnecessary), went back and loaded into my profile again and that activated the two items. ;)

Also, thanks SCS for adding these rewards! I even suggested this too, a colourable paintjob for your truck (over in the ETS2 thread), so I'm happy to see these come to the game. :D

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I completed the Driving Academy shortly after its release, it's also listed in the achievements, but the rewards are still missing in both games - unfortunately.

@Desperado I'm afraid I can only suggest trying what I tried again. In ATS 1.54, loading into the Driving Academy screen (maybe even one of the challenges), then exiting back into the main title screen and loading into the profile. It should eventually activate.

Also, a thing to keep in mind is that these rewards are only able to be unlocked and used for profiles in which you've completed the Driving Academy – they won't unlock if you load into a different profile.

Having just completed the Professional Driver achievement, that was... terrible to put it mildly. More of a "Blind as a Bat", in a couple of tests the passenger side hood mirror is the only one that shows any useful parts of the trailer and not only is the mirrors' resolution a throwback to ten years ago, they're also sized about an inch diagonally on a 34" screen with a 70° FOV. Combined with the fact that there's no way to tell what's going on ahead of the front axle line, it certainly wasn't easy.

The first part was not easy when I did it, but at least were very few segments that had timers then...

I'm on the fence as to getting the ats beta or waiting for it to go live, with slow inet and such I might wait for live.
