I started an Iceland Discussion Thread because there was (until now) no thread dedicated to just Iceland in this subforum and also, there is an Iceland advert variant in the map editor that is currently unused, with the 'gr' (Greece) tag on the model name, meaning that eventually Iceland will come to the game. Judging by how an Iceland advert is on a model that is going to be used in Greece and potentially Nordic Horizons, it makes sense that Iceland would be in pre-production.
Iceland is 102k sq km in real life, which is the same size as the US state of Pennsylvania. Iceland doesn't have a complex road network and isn't as dense as a country like Greece or Ireland; Meaning a majority of the work will be scenery, which Iceland has a meticulous selection of.

Let's talk all things Iceland on this thread!
EDIT 13/6/2025 - Iceland has been officially announced for Euro Truck Simulator 2!

I got to see a geyser in 2014 when I was on a "family field trip" in the southern part of the country. They are interesting, and might be a nice scenic addition if considered.

Oh that's my trigger card
Ok let's go.
Road-wise, i'd expect it to have, obviously, full circle around the island, with some roads leading to towns that are further away - like 54, 60 or 68, 75, 85, 30, 427, and of course 41 to Keflavik. Should be enough to squeeze in 10-15 towns, they're not very big anyway.
Economy-wise, of course fishing products, local produce like agriculture and livestock hauled between towns, aluminium manufacturing, and of course resources for industries like geothermal plants and whatnot. And, most importantly, import/export from cargo ports/airports.
I don't think however, any international truck transport takes place, so any hauls will be indeed local. Yes you can hop on a ferry and get there or back, but without a trailer.
As for landmarks... My lists consists of over a hundred positions, so I'll pass on that.
And my hope is that they do it right considering the time of the year the game is set in, unlike promods that made half of it white and boring.

Re: Iceland Discussion Thread
I hope that the developers include Keflavik Airport (and please mark Keflavik too), KEF is the biggest commercial hub in the Western region of the country, besides the seaports in Reykjavik.
Side note on Keflavik Airport, it may genuinely be the most clean and best airport I've ever been to. My aunt used to work there for several years. The airport can get crowded at times during the year but for the most part, very good for travel and it's a notch better and more efficient than what is present at the major hubs in the States where I live. It's really the only International Airport in Iceland because Reykjavik's is a smaller hub and the other cities across the country aren't big enough to service larger airliners.

Re: Iceland Discussion Thread
I think SCS should do what ProMods did and make Iceland at a larger scale, similar to how the UK is now. That will give them more room for smaller roads that split off the Ring Road (Route 1).
Nordic Horizons, particularly in the far north and Nordkapp area, should be a nice preview of how SCS will create the scenery for Iceland.

Re: Iceland Discussion Thread
I did some map tinkering in the editor and found that both Keflavik and Reykjavik are on the same sector. Both are 50km away from each other in the real world.
It does get me a bit worried that Reykjavik is going to be small. But hopefully, they'll come up with some cool solution to make the city larger than expected.

Re: Iceland Discussion Thread
At 130something thousand people it's not exactly a metropolis, so it may get few depots on the outskirts, obviously the port and that's it. I won't mind if the focus for this country will be more on the countryside rather than towns, I mean it's what Iceland is famous for.
