Proposal of typical vehicles for AI traffic in ETS2 (work in progress)

#1 Post by Runoff_975 » 28 Jan 2025 17:06

I figured I'd take Halbtollekreatur's idea of the ATS version of the traffic wishlist and bring it over to ETS2, for realism and variety. It's not just the brands/companies, but the types of models. Anyone is welcome to add suggestions. I haven't found any in ETS2 as far as I am concerned (if any are found, please link it).

What new vehicles do we need in AI traffic? Well... we need a more up-to-date ensemble of new cars specifically sold for Europe. The older cars are nice and all, but personally there needs to be new cars in the mix. We are missing tons of examples, like the addition of more leisure activity vans (we got a Crafter, but that isn't enough) and more generations of the few AI cars we got in ETS2. I know mods can alleviate this but not everyone uses them.

Now, we can't have law enforcement cars as there is a public research thread for them. No electric trucks either, and while rigids are coming, it's far too early to see it happen. The best we can do now is have patience.

So, here are my picks to start off the car wishlist thread for ETS2:

2023-present Jeep Avenger (FH)
Only available in Europe, Japan and South Korea, Jeep's cutesy Avenger is basically like a smaller Renegade cousin, with EV propulsion. If you're looking for style and offroad chops, there is only one SUV in the frame. If GTA Online got this, then we can make one too.

2020-present MAN TGX (drivable truck)
Wonder when we're ever going to see this in traffic? I'd love to see it happen at some point since it has been almost two years since it launched in ETS2.

2023-present DAF XD (drivable truck)
Again, I would love to see it as a AI traffic model eventually. I would use the high-cab model and the day cab model (as shown below).

Of course, there has to be some sort of limitations for the day cab as it should only carry certain trailers, and not the lowboy trailer kind.

Some of the cars from ATS' AI traffic pool can be ported over to ETS2 as some of them have been sold in Continental Europe. If you know of any vehicles you'd like to see considered in ETS2 as a traffic car in the future, post it here.

Here are some more cars that I would consider adding to ETS2 in the future. Enjoy!

2021-present Hyundai Bayon (BC3)
A sleekly-designed compact utility vehicle designed for Europe. I can attest to having this around.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2017-present Volkswagen T-Roc (Type A1)
I don't see any reason why the compact T-Roc doesn't get to be a part of this. It's a relatively popular vehicle in Europe and even with a few alterations it would still work.
[ external image ]
It even has a convertible version!
[ external image ]

The existing Jeep Grand Cherokee from ATS can also work in ETS2 since Jeep has sold this model in Europe.

Here are today's vehicle submissions for AI traffic. Enjoy!

1999-2012 Peugeot 206
A must-have retro hatchback for AI traffic. Comes in either a three-door, five-door or its convertible offering, the 206 CC. I did my best to include photos of each variant.

1986-93 Peugeot 309
In a way that the retrograde hatchback has in common with '80s France, the 309 has it where it counts. This hatchback also spawned a spicier GTi three-door variant, which we'd also love to see replicated. Action not words.

Before starting this post, I'd like to update that we've got the ATS Kona model into ETS2 recently. Now, without further ado, here's my post below.

Some more French cars to expand the AI roster of traffic in ETS2.

1997-2005 Citroën Xsara
Another must-have French hatchback of choice. I did my best to include both pre- and post-facelift models of both the 3-door VTS and the five-door hatchback models.

Pre-facelift

Post-facelift

1990-97 Renault Clio (X57)
The old, first-generation Clio deserves some time in the spotlight. I included both its 3-door and 5-door variants for good measure.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

1991-96 Renault Espace II (J63)
An old, swing-out MPV from Renault. I distinctly remember this model of the Espace from the PS2-only The Getaway, which had this specific van.

Cars popular in Portugal which could be added:

- Second generation Renault Clio
- First gen Mercedes C-Class, both sedan and wagon are still very common outside of Lisbon and Porto
- Citroen Saxo and second gen Seat Ibiza, mainstays in the Portuguese tuner scene
- Toyota Dyna and Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, two trucks built in Portugal and popular for in-city logistics

Here are today's future traffic proposals for ETS2.

1997-2004 Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W168)
The original A-Class was a complicated machine, with a unique engine layout given its size. It was way ahead of its time, though it's best remembered for its infamous "Elk test".

2004-2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W169/C169)
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2021-present Toyota Yaris Cross (XP210)
Meet the bigger Yaris offering that is only available in Japan, Continental Europe and Australia.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2020-present Honda Jazz (GR)
Honda's latest-gen Fit (or Jazz in Europe and Australia), the former nameplate sold in its domestic market, Japan, is a looker, especially in its Crosstar trim. Sadly, this generation of the Fit is not sold in the U.S. meaning it will be exclusive to ETS2, if it ever comes to fruition with some alterations.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2021-present Honda HR-V (RV5)
Even in its e:HEV form, the RV5-gen HR-V, known domestically as the Vezel, looks a bit like a block given the Fit architecture it rides on. Unfortunately, this model is not sold in the US; in its place was the Civic-based HR-V (domestic name: ZR-V).

Here are today's future AI vehicles for ETS2. More modern stuff this time. Some of them will have to be changed slightly.

2017-2023 Ford Fiesta (Seventh-generation)
Meet the seventh (and last) gen Fiesta that is sleek, fun to drive, and unfortunately, denied to American customers. Which means it won't be in ATS. Production of the Fiesta ended in mid-2023.

Three-door variant

[ external image ]

2018-present Ford Focus (fourth-generation)
Ford's intricately-designed global car, the Focus, is also given its sleek styling and everything you'd need for a basic car. It's also denied to the U.S. even in its Active variant, meaning it also won't go to ATS.

Turnier variant

2019-present Ford Puma
Another cool-looking Ford that Americans also don't get. The new Puma is directly based on the Fiesta architecture and has some awesome styling cues, giving it a retro chic style. An EV version is included starting in 2025.

2025 Puma Gen-E

2014-2018 Nissan Pulsar (C13)

Today's future AI vehicles (typical or not, depending on the country) are here! This is a mix of old and new rides.

1997-2001 Ford Puma (SE161)
This racy coupe from Ford Europe is very alluring and still holds up over 25 years later. The coupe was offered in various forms including a Racing homologation model, a kit car and even a rally model. One of the regular models was briefly featured in Darude's music video for the ever-so-popular eurobeat 1999 hit, "Sandstorm".
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

1999-2005 Audi A2 (Type 8Z)
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2015-present Audi Q7 (Type 4M)
Very popular in Europe and shown here is the original 2015 model.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2021-present Volkswagen Taigo (Type CS)
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

2022-present Volkswagen ID.Buzz (EBB)
Just to clarify what we're talking about: This suggestion is about the short-wheelbase ID. Buzz that's only available within Europe and Australia. The U.S. got a longer-wheelbase model beginning in late 2024.
[ external image ]
[ external image ]
Though I love the two-tone color layout and design, the car itself will have to be altered in some way.

2022-present ID. Buzz Cargo (not for America)
[ external image ]
[ external image ]
Same with the original, it will have to be altered in some way. This cargo model could also work as a localized van in specific countries, especially its home country of Germany.

2025-present Renault 5 E-Tech
A must-have EV revival of the old Renault 5. Will have to be altered.
