In US all transport development have had a huge focus on owning your own car and make transport by car mandatory
Public intercity transport is almost nonexisting compared to Europe
In Europe holiday packages have been common since the fifties, in US you travel by car on vacation
You need to look at PRT and Coaches in a historical context

Pavel did mention that if PRT works out, both games could get it. But one game will always be the ginnea pig first. They can't develop for both simultaneously if Coaches is there. If SCS would have gone PRT over Coaches, the ETS2 community would have Pavel's head for sure. Upsetting such a large community wouldn't be good. Prime example is no HoR dlc.

Re: Project Road Trip Discussion Thread
I'd honestly have coaches over cars.
Coaches are at least in the same vein as trucks. Delivering something from a to b. Cars IMO just don't belong in this game.
When we eventually get rigids transit vans might make sense in ETS2, but cars still wouldn't.
To each their own.

PRT is added for the exploration and education aspect, requested as well as mentioned before PRT was announced

Re: Project Road Trip Discussion Thread
Yes, I'm just criticizing them because I want them to go down my personal wishlist and add exactly what I want or else this game sucks, scs sucks and everything sucksSora wrote: Let's be honest here: the problem here is never anything actually objective, the problem is that they're not going down your personal wishlist and have the audacity to instead add what they want, or at least what they suspect other people of wanting. The rest is just you realizing the same problems with SCS that everyone else noticed ten years ago.
Understand that I'm not going out and asking for what I want, specifically (Because the specific things I want, I know that will never be added, SCS won't pivot that much into deep "hardcore" simulation and honestly I'm fine with that). I'm asking for transparency about projects that SCS themselves already announced and teased multiple times before, they don't even need to release tomorrow next week or next month, just transparency is what I'm asking, but of course that comes across as spoiled brat behavior to some around here.
But I get it, there's probably a small lettering sentence right under where SCS signs the license that specifically says there's only N amount of times they can show it and coincidentally it's always at the end of the year, more specifically in their Christmas streams, otherwise is no-no forbidden.
And I did, so did quite a few other people too. Did it work? No. Does it look like the devs care? No. Does it look like we'll get a patch soon or sometime in the not too distance future? No. In fact I'm willing to bet any amount of money that the same problem will be present in the 1.61 Open Beta and will still carry on to the public branch of 1.61. Why you ask? Because of roadtrip! Whatever was changed, they want to keep it that way. They could not be bothered to make a clear separation between car behavior and truck behavior, the way the Mustang handled in the gameplay video is proof of that. And now we're stuck with unrealistic truck behavior because of the unrealistic car behavior, because they couldn't (Didn't want to) make a secondary set of parameters for 4 wheelers.Sora wrote: There are a lot of real, concrete things to complain about regarding their current handling of PRT. Those, realistically, are going to be the things there's more value in criticizing. Issues with truck gameplay that may have resulted from PRT adjustments are a great start - go harder on those instead of spewing aimless vitriol.
And that's part of the reason why I truly believe this game mode has no business being in a OTR trucking game. If they took their time to make a separate game, dedicated just for cars, with it's own set of physics and parameters and had left ATS well enough alone, there wouldn't be nearly enough "toxicity" as some would say (Because at this day and age, if one doesn't like what they just read it must be toxicity, because their world view is all butterflies and rainbows).

Re: Project Road Trip Discussion Thread
At first I had no interest in PRT as trucks are my main interest, European trucks, not US trucks. I own ATS though, I bought it to sponsor SCS and also a bit out of curiosity. I uninstalled ATS some years ago and therefore have I not bought the latest maps. American trucking isn't my thing at all.
But I like US as a visual and also the way SCS maps has developed these last years and this together makes it quite interesting with PRT. I'll probably buy PRT and reinstall ATS and add those maps I'm missing. It's hard to say at this point how much I'll enjoy it, but it's probably fun for a while.
What I hope though is that cars, trucks and buses clearly get their specifics separated when it comes to physics and engine/transmission behaviour. I really don't want it develop into some in between those specifics, with car-like truck and truck-like car behaviors. It may take some time to get there, but please, no SCSoon on this

@Tim The Terrible 777 Coach pack isn't gonna happen unless it's successful in ETS2.
