While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. Improved Suspension [1.54-1.59]

#1 Post by ady00yo » 28 Apr 2025 14:33

Hey everyone,

I'm excited to share my physics mod for American Truck Simulator!

This mod introduces:

Enhanced suspension dynamics: More realistic bounces, roll, and weight transfer.
Improved tire grip and friction: Traction based on road conditions.
Realistic braking behavior: Gradual deceleration for loaded and unloaded trucks.
Authentic cab movement: Feel every bump and curve when you're behind the wheel!

Changelog:

v1.0 - Initial release

v1.1 - Reworked cabin suspension behavior
- Improved brakes feel
- Adjusted 5th wheel angles
- Matched real-world turning radius
- Improved gearbox behavior (clutch feel)
- Added compatibility with 1.55

v1.2 - Adjusted 5th wheel pitch and roll to JOST standards
- Tweaked trailer pitch and roll based on available trailer kingpin data
- Adjusted tire grip based on Michelin X-Line 295/75/R22.5 data
- Cabin pitch and roll angles matching real-world counterparts
- Increased air resistance to better simulate Class 8 American semi-trucks

v1.3 - Adjusted brake torque to DOT‑compliant stopping distance
- Slight adjustment to cabin suspension damping
- Tweaked truck and trailer suspension damping to better match Class 8 semi-trucks
- Transmission and Clutch viscosity adjusted based on Eaton/Detroit publicly available data

v1.4 - Brake bias adjusted
- Suspension damping modified to better match behavior shown in tests
- Flywheel tweaked to make the truck feel heavy (no more car-like behavior)
- Tweaked force feedback configuration

Here are the settings used in testing:
Truck stability - 12%
Trailer stability - 0%
Cabin suspension stiffness - 50%
Suspension stiffness - 35%
Driveshaft torque - 37%
Braking intensity - 72%
